It was a beautiful sunny day to set the afternoon butterflies free. We sat up on the hill in the sunshine and watched them fly off up into the sky and to the trees. We have been responsibly caring for them and nurturing them since they arrived as tiny baby caterpillars! You can also view the video on the TV screen in nursery.

In an earlier post we mentioned children’s learning is recorded and extended through Learning Stories.
Learning Stories are a consultative model of planning, led by the children.
Learning Stories at BEYC are very much influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach; making learning visible and highly valuing the child’s voice and contributions from home.
Our Learning Stories are collated onto Sway (Microsoft Office Sway is an online interactive presentation programme) which is great for revisiting Learning Stories, both in nursery and at home.
Please have a look at the key points about BEYC’s Learning Stories below.
This short video is also very helpful for understanding this approach to documenting learning and planning.
