Scottish Parliament and Theatre Visit
P5/6 and P5 had lots of fun exploring the Scottish Parliament Building this morning. We saw the debating chamber and some of the exhibits within the Parliament building. After eating lunch in the shade of some trees in the Gardens, outside the Parliament, we travelled to see Imaginate’s ‘9 to 5’ show – we had a great day out!

‘Name on the Label’ Event
Our Iona House Captains have noticed a lot of school jumpers and ties being lost or left unclaimed. As part of St Joseph Primary Schools drive to reduce, reuse, recycle, our House Captains have asked to hold a ‘Name on the Label’ day in which we will write your child’s name on their school jumper and tie labels. Each class will receive a letter in the next few weeks with details of when our house captains will make a visit to your class. While letters for each class will be given out at different times, please return the slip promptly when your child receives their letter.

Easter Holidays
To all parents and carers, Mrs Burns and the staff of St Joseph’s would like to thank you for your continued support over the last term. We wish you all a Happy Easter. Staff and pupils will return on Monday, 17th April 2023.
NURSERY LOGO DESIGN COMPETITION
Congratulations to the children and their families in our nursery who won the logo design competition. It was difficult to choose only one winner from all the wonderful entries so the judges picked two winners and we combined the designs to create our new Logo. Each of our winning families received a family movie pass for Showcase Cinemas, kindly donated by Showcase Deluxe, Coatbridge. Thank you to all those who entered.

Turkey and Syria Earthquake Appeal
Our Community donations have made their way to Turkey. Our High school partner received an update from the Turkish Consulate in Edinburgh, informing them that all our donations had arrived safely via Turkish Airlines. Donations have reached Kayseri and Hayat Kirikhan, where they will be further distributed to the worst affected areas. Again, a huge thank you for your continued support and generosity.
This Week in Primary 1
We have had a very busy week this week in Primary 1. We have been learning the v sound and how to add numbers within 10. We went on a school trip to the Science Centre and had an amazing time learning about forces and magnets. We also had a special homework project to reuse some of our recycling and create something new. We made some super robots and rocket ships and were very creative. We then used our talking and listening skills to share what we made with our friends. Thank you to all the parents that took the time to help.
