There will be no bags sent home this time.

What they will take or won’t take.

School Transport Survey

“The Passenger Transport Service is very keen to hear your views regarding both the transport provided and any contacts with the team.  There are two surveys to be completed depending on the type of transport your child(ren) use.

We appreciate that you may not have used this transport so much lately but your views are very important to us.  The links to the surveys are as follows;

School Bus Survey for Pupils and Parents 2020/21

School Taxi and Minibus Transport Survey 2020/21 .

Thank you for taking the time to complete the relevant survey.”

Glow and Microsoft Teams – Important Information for Parents and Carers

“Glow is the national online service funded by Scottish Government and provided by Education Scotland. This learning environment provides learners and educators across Scotland with access to a wide set of innovative digital services and resources designed to enhance learning and teaching across the whole curriculum.

Access to Glow is restricted to learners and educators who are issued with an account that can provide access to a number of different online services such as Microsoft Office 365G Suite for Education and Glow Blogs.

Online safety is of utmost importance in the delivery and management of Glow. Glow is not an open system, and should be viewed as an extension of the school/education establishment. Only learners, and adults who require access in relation to their role as teaching or support staff, are provided with Glow accounts. All adults will have been Disclosure Scotland checked at minimum prior to their individual Glow account being created. Therefore parents/carers logging in using their child’s Glow (and Teams) account and using Glow (and Teams) is not permitted; and in addition, schools should not issue children’s Glow accounts directly to parents.”The whole article can be found at https://glowconnect.org.uk/about-glow/glow-for-parents/

Seesaw – Class App at home.

Primary 1 to Primary 3 has started to use Seesaw in school. This is a new App which we will be using in school and at home.

Your child will bring home a QR code which should be used to log them in – please keep it safe. Try the QR code to get used to using it. Ask your child to use the draw tools to draw a picture or write their name or some words. Upload this to their Journal (Click on the green circle with the tick). As everyone becomes more familiar with the platform you will find more “Activities” set by the teacher.

Below is a link to a video that shows you how to log in and use some of the basic functions. I hope you find this helpful.

Introducing www.myon.co.uk

myON is essentially an online library which has some additional tools. It will be the main source of reading material for home and school use.

myON is from Renaissance Learning, the same company that provides Accelerated Reader, a program that has been used in school for a number of years. myON has some integration with Accelerated Reader and Star Reading which is used to help select books at an appropriate level.

Please take some time to look at the Parent Information Sheet and the introductory video. Please take some time to connect Star Reader Scores.

It would also be useful to download the App and set up access on as many devices as possible to ensure easy access.

During the next week or two, it would be really helpful if everyone becomes familiar with the books that are available. Begin to read some books and start to add to the “list” of books you would like to read.

Try the audio function with some books and try just reading others and see your time spent reading add up. Take some quizzes!

Integrate myON into your daily routine!
