St Joseph’s Sharing Shelf

The Equity Team have created a ‘Sharing Shelf’ in the front foyer at the school entrance. You will find lots of non-perishable foods and lots of other household items that people can come and take when needed. We also have lots of toothbrushes, toothpaste and other toiletries. There is also lots of uniform and kids clothes on our clothing rack in the foyer.

All items are available to everyone to ‘take what they need and give what they can’. We will be adding other items to the shelf in the next few weeks. If you can think of anything else we could offer, please let the school know.

We really appreciate your support in making this ‘sharing shelf’ a success.

Thanks,

The Equity Team

Measles Update

NHS Lothian has alerted all schools about an increased number of cases and outbreaks of measles in England and Europe which increases the risk of infection spreading in Scotland.  Immunisation with the MMR vaccine is the safest way to protect yourself and your family against measles, mumps and rubella.  In February, NHS Lothian will write to all parents/carers of school aged children who have not yet had two doses of the MMR vaccine.  Parents/carers are urged to book an appointment for their child to receive their MMR vaccine by calling the NHS Lothian Vaccination Helpline on 0300 790 6296.  Parents/carers can gain further information on measles, including signs and symptoms to look out for, by accessing NHS Inform https://www.nhsinform.scot/campaigns/mmr-againstmeasles

Equity Champions

Our Equity Champions were delighted to get their group badge to proudly display. They have been busy last term creating a ‘Sharing  Shelf’ in the foyer at the main entrance, where families can give what they can and take what they need from it.

They are also very happy to see families making good use of our School Uniform rack.

P6 Recent Highlights

P6 have been very busy recently and wanted to share a few highlights from the past few weeks. We have been learning how to measure, using our Outdoor Learning space to help us estimate distance and check our measurements. We also had our class trip to visit Edinburgh as part of our Harry Potter topic. In class, we created our own wands and took part in some Wizards duals and have enjoyed taking part in some collaborative construction work.
