As part of Careers day, Beth planned and organised a gymnastics lesson for P5. It was such a success that she taught the same lesson again with her whole class. The class thoroughly enjoyed learning new skills in gymnastics whilst having great fun!
Primary 5 Inter-Schools Rugby Festival
Primary 5 were fortunate enough to take part in a Rugby Festival organised by our Active Schools coordinator. They took part in sessions with Rugby Development Coaches and then played some games against each other. Unfortunately the rain ended the festival earlier than planned – typical Scottish weather!
PE with Primary 3 and 4/3
We have enjoyed doing stations in PE this week. The stations have included such things as hula hoops, football, hurdles and space hoppers. The children have had a great time experiencing each one and have asked that they do the same for PE next week. They worked well in their teams and ensured that they followed the instructions and rules for each game.
Judo After School Club Sharing Session
At the end of an 8 week club families were invited in to share in what their children had been learning and watch them take part. This was a free club sponsored by the Wheatley Group in partnership with West Lothian Housing Partnership. We are very grateful to them for paying for our children to have this fabulous opportunity.
During the sharing session the children were able to show their teamwork, understanding and listening skills – as well as having lots of fun. Parents were able to see how quickly children were following instructions and will able to do this at home also ! Some children are keen to continue with Judo. There are opportunities locally but we will look to pursue a club in Boghall Primary.
Here are some photos from the sharing event. Well done to the boys and girls for their commitment and resilience.
Roots of Empathy – Primary 3
Primary 3 have been involved in the Roots of Empathy programme. This programme allows children to see the developmental stages of a baby and identify what their needs and wants are at each stage.
We celebrated the end of the programme by having a mini celebration with baby Sophie in our class. We have seen her grow and develop over the year and have loved having her in our class.

Climate Change and Animal Habitats in P3 and P4/3
As part of our theme on animals around the world we have been working on climate and how if affects different habitats. We discussed why climate change is happening and how we can take steps to reduce the pollution. In groups we created posters encouraging people to stop climate change by recycling, walking instead of taking the car and turning off the tv when it’s not being watched!
P7/6 erupt volcanoes!
P7/6 finished making their volcanoes and painted them to make them look realistic. We then completed the ‘mentos and diet coke’ challenge to make our volcanoes erupt!
A bottle of diet coke is full of carbon dioxide (the bubbles). The bubbles stay suspended in the liquid until the bottle is opened. When mentos are dropped into a bottle of diet coke, it forms lots and lots of bubbles on the surface of the cola. When all of this gas is released it forces the liquid up and out of the bottle in a giant whooshing eruption of sticky soda, just like a volcano does!
We do not recommend you try this at home without adult supervision!
Primary 7/6 were so excited to watch our volcanoes erupt! Have a look at our pictures to see what happened…
P3 and P4/3 visit lambs!
As part of our animals around the world topic, P3 and P4/3 got to visit some lambs yesterday that had come in to visit P1. We all loved how soft they felt and were keen to stroke them. We are learning about animals and habitats in the different continents and this week have been learning about Scottish native animals.
