P3 Two Stars and a Wish

1st Star: We had great fun learning about the Great Barrier Reef and Space with the Google virtual reality headsets. We loved exploring!

2nd Star: We enjoyed doing our science experiment using different materials. We investigated which material could bounce the highest.

Wish: We are excited to start our new interdisciplinary learning topic about the Romans!

P4 two stars and wish!

First star:  We had a super start to our Monday with a journey to The Kruger National Park in South Africa, some real life volcanoes, underwater in The Caribbean and The Galapagos islands!  This was all using the Google virtual reality head-sets!

Second star:  We enjoyed our first Burn’s supper on Wednesday hosted by P7 – you did a great job!

Wish:  We hope Miss MacGregor who is joining us on Monday has a great first week! 🙂

Google Expedition visit with P6

P6 were lucky to be the first to have a visit from the Google Expedition team. We visited lots of different expeditions and had fun looking a Elephants, Giraffes, Sharks, Snakes, Volcanoes, Planets and Stars. We thought the best expeditions were the underwater ones. Sorry for being so loud (“THERE’S AN ELEPHANT!!”) but we had a lot of fun!! Thank you for visiting us Google!

P5 Technology Project

P5s interdisciplinary topic for this term is Scotland. As part of our technology lessons we will be looking at the construction of the main bridges in Scotland, focusing on the Forth Road Bridges. We will be comparing the similarities and differences between the three bridges. As part of this learning the children will be working in groups to construct a model of their choice of the three bridges.

Can I please request that P5 parents send in clean recycled materials you have that might be of use – i.e. plastic bottles, egg boxes, cardboard tubes etc.

Please do not send in any materials that might cause injury, such as glass or tins.

I am really excited to see the designs and models the children create!

P5 Update

We have had a very busy week in P5.

Star 1 – Getting to know and beginning lessons with Miss Hoggan

(We are extremely lucky to have Miss Hoggan with us at the moment.  Miss Hoggan is a 3rd Year student teacher from Stirling University.  The children have made her feel very welcome!)

Star 2 – Taking our learning outside!  We made the most of the dry and mild weather and took our measurement lesson outside.  We were able to estimate and measure much larger items and areas,  We have learned that it is really tricky to estimate big areas!

Wish – More ICT in class!  We have recently been using the school iPad minis to develop our internet search and independent research skills.   We have been creating a fact file on Robert Burns.

P6 two stars and a wish

We have had a busy week at school with our poetry competition, Hairspray rehearsals, kilt making and challenge Friday!

The competition was fierce in P6 but with only three places for finalists Miss Potter had a difficult decision to make…. however congratulations to Nicola, Georgia and Jake who are through to the finals and will be representing our class – good luck! Challenge Friday was particularly challenging today, with lots of patience and teamwork needed. However this all paid off and P6 were the winners!

Star – Finding out about Monday’s Virtual Reality visit from the Google Expeditions team! We can’t wait!

Star – We loved the P1 assembly – we thought they were fantastic!

Wish – We wish we could play some maths games next week.
