Primary 6 – Screen Printing Week 2!

Week 2 with Patrick, Chris, Fran and Bernie was excellent!

We looked at pictures of Street Art and discussed why some people call it Street Art while others say it is Graffiti – very interesting ideas and opinions! Bernie showed us some of his art that he creates using stencils which was very intricate and complicated to create. He also took us outside for a demonstration of how you layer the different stencils and colours to create an image – the picture he created he gifted to our class which is amazing! Next we created our own alphabet stencils and had fun experimenting with colour and shape as we layered our stencils on our own master pieces. Lastly we collaborated on a large class stencil which we will finish next week…. What a busy and fun filled day!

P7 Science

Primary 7 have been busy learning about body organs and their functions. This week we have been learning about the respiratory system and made models of the lungs. The balloon represents the lungs and the plastic bag represents the diaphragm. When you pull the plastic bag down, the balloon inflates – just like the lungs would. It was great fun!

P5 Two Stars and a Wish

Good morning

Our stars for this week are:

  • Learning how to say and spell a range of body parts in French!
  • Seeing Miss Hoggan again – we have all missed her lots!

Wish for next week

  • To do more maths challenges on our current topic of money

A reminder that Monday is a holiday.  Due to the Scottish Elections children are not in school on Thursday either.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!

P3 Two Stars and a Wish

1st Star: We really enjoyed meeting a Roman Soldier and marching as an army around the playground!

2nd Star: We completed a new challenge writing about our emotions.

Wish: We can’t wait to find out more about fake news and how to spot it!

P3/2 – 2 stars and a wish

1st Star – We enjoyed painting the waves after listening to music about waves.

2nd Star –  We enjoyed having a visit from a Roman solider.  He told us lots of interesting facts about soldiers.   The best part was when we went outside to march and charge at the solider.

1 wish –  We would like to learn more division.

P5/4 Two stars and a wish

1st star     We really enjoyed learning about the story of Bathgate Castle and making line drawings of the Bathgate Coat of Arms.  We can’t wait until the drawings are finished.

2nd star   It was fun starting our new class novel-Mr Stink by David Walliams.

Wish         We are looking forward to finding out more local history.

P3 Two Stars and a Wish

1st Star: We really enjoyed learning about the Roman God Janus and made some foil art for the wall.

2nd Star: We’ve made a great start to our literacy circles in class. We’ll soon be ready to take it home with our reading.

Wish:  We are excited to find out what our Roman surprise will be!

Screen Printing fun with Primary 6!

Primary 6 were lucky enough to be chosen to help Chris and Patrick with the design and creation of the our new church memorial garden – we don’t want to give away any secrets but we had such a fun morning screen printing with Patrick, Bernie, Fran and Chris that we had to share some of our photos! We will keep you updated with our progress each week!

RRS AWARD FOR THE SECOND TIME!

As you know, Boghall Primary was awarded a second Level 2 Rights Respecting School Award a few weeks ago.  This is a fantastic achievement as not only were we the first school in West Lothian to achieve the Advanced level 2  award back in 2011,  we are now the first school in West Lothian to be awarded level 2 for the SECOND time!  We were delighted to welcome back Tam Baillie (The Children’s Commissioner)  to our school to present us with the award.  Here are some of the official photographs that were taken on the day.
