Changes to Parent Consultations

We would like your child to attend Parent Consultations with you at this time of year – we will keep the one in October for Parents only.  Your child will have prepared information with their teachers to be shared at this event and you will get a copy to take away with you.

If there is something that you wish to share with the teacher that you don’t wish your child to hear –  your child can wait outside the door until you do this.

We are looking forward to sharing your child’s progress and success with you at this time.  You play a very important part in your child’s education and you will be able to see how you can support your child.

Monday 6th March – P1 and P2 access to school

IMPORTANT       –     CHANGES OF ACCESS – NURSERY BUILDING WORK

FROM MONDAY 6TH MARCH 2017

We are so excited in school as the Nursery Building work will start on Monday 6th March.

P1 and 2 entrance/exit will be closed

P1 will enter and leave the building by the Fire Escape on the east of the building on Marina Road.  As you walk to the Community Wing Entrance turn left and head up the stairsas shown in the photo above.

Mrs Ireland will be at this door to allow the children to access.
P2 children until Easter will come in via the Main Entrance (they normally leave this way at the end of the day)

After Easter the Main Entrance to the school will be from the back of the school – details to follow.

P7 Maths

P7 had lots of fun in maths today working out ratios with skittles. We had to work out the ratio of all the different colours and then work out the proportions. We then used our prior knowledge of fractions, decimals and percentages to convert each. It was so much fun and we now understand ratio even more!

Last week in P2 we had great time making pizzas as part of our Katie Morag topic. We even had haggis as a topping!

Reminder 1! The Katie Morag models are to be brought into school on Thursday. Parents who want to attend the open afternoon then can see all the models and join in with more learning.

Our first assembly will be Friday 21st of April.dscn2103 dscn2104

P5 Update

Hi from P5

Star 1:  Carousel activities in maths during our time lessons

Star 2:  Drama with Miss Hoggan

Wish:  To do some cooking

We were all very sad to say goodbye to our student Miss Hoggan.  We have all really enjoyed having her as part of our class and would like to wish her all the very best for the future.  And who knows, we might see her again soon!!

P5 Technology Project

P5s interdisciplinary topic for this term is Scotland. As part of our technology lessons we will be looking at the construction of the main bridges in Scotland, focusing on the Forth Road Bridges. We will be comparing the similarities and differences between the three bridges. As part of this learning the children will be working in groups to construct a model of their choice of the three bridges.

Can I please request that P5 parents send in clean recycled materials you have that might be of use – i.e. plastic bottles, egg boxes, cardboard tubes etc.

Please do not send in any materials that might cause injury, such as glass or tins.

I am really excited to see the designs and models the children create!

P5 Update

We have had a very busy week in P5.

Star 1 – Getting to know and beginning lessons with Miss Hoggan

(We are extremely lucky to have Miss Hoggan with us at the moment.  Miss Hoggan is a 3rd Year student teacher from Stirling University.  The children have made her feel very welcome!)

Star 2 – Taking our learning outside!  We made the most of the dry and mild weather and took our measurement lesson outside.  We were able to estimate and measure much larger items and areas,  We have learned that it is really tricky to estimate big areas!

Wish – More ICT in class!  We have recently been using the school iPad minis to develop our internet search and independent research skills.   We have been creating a fact file on Robert Burns.
