Challenge Friday

All pupils from P5, 6 and 7 take part in ‘Challenge Friday’. The aim of challenge Friday is to develop skills for life such as collaboration, problem solving and communication.

This week’s challenge ‘How high can you go?’ was to build the tallest tower using only 5 sheets of paper and a selection of sticking materials. The tower had to stand on its own.

A team from Primary 7 won this week’s challenge with a tower that measured Im 11cm (and 6mm). In second place was a team from Miss Armstrong’s class with 1m 4cm, in third place was a team from Mrs Thacker’s class which measured 1m 4mm and in last place was a team from Mrs Williamson’s class which measured 85cm.

Well done to all the teams who managed to get the tower to stand long enough to be measured! Here are a few snapshots. DSCN0894 DSCN0893 IMG_2987 IMG_2988 IMG_2990

Primary 7/6 2 stars and a wish…

1st star – We loved Philosophy! We all sat in a circle and discussed our opinions on the following questions – ‘Can you pay for a bunch of bananas with a bunch of bananas?’ , ‘If you paint over a window, is it still a window?’ and ‘Are you any less alive when you’re asleep?’. It was very interesting listening to everyone’s opinions!

2nd star – We all got a headteacher award for having a great start to the school show! We managed to sing 3 songs and practised 6 scenes!

wish – to go out for mile a day more often!

The Staff @ Boghall

Getting It Right For Every Child

Getting it right for every child is a Scottish Government led approach which ensures that any organisation working with children and young people provides an environment where they can grow and develop to reach their full potential. Getting it right for every child is core to our visions and values here at Boghall Primary school.

P7/6 – Map Work

Primary 7/6 have been developing their Map skills by locating different features of Scotland, UK and the wider world on a map. They had to draw symbols of key features such as mountain ranges, capital cities, rivers and highest peaks from around the world. They then had to try and name different capital cities. This will help them to identify the countries involved in the Second World War. Here are a few photos of them in action…

Dalguise Trip 2015

On Friday morning we welcomed P6 and P7 pupils back from Dalguise.  They looked happy …. but tired !

I would like to thank the 3 members of  staff – Mrs Ireland, Mrs Thomson and Mrs Williamson – on behalf of the pupils , parents and school.

As I am sure you understand, without their willingness to leave their homes and families for this time, we would not be able to go.

Many thanks also to staff who organised the ‘Alternative Week’ in week in school – it was great too.

I am looking forward to seeing what they have been up to on Friday at their assembly.

Wicked Whispers

As part of challenge Friday, P5,6,7 had to play a game of Chinese whispers. They had to work in teams of 4/5 to draw a Halloween themed picture. Only one person in the group was given the original image and they had to pass on their instructions by whispering to each team member with one person drawing. It was a real challenge!
