As part of our animals around the world topic, P3 and P4/3 got to visit some lambs yesterday that had come in to visit P1. We all loved how soft they felt and were keen to stroke them. We are learning about animals and habitats in the different continents and this week have been learning about Scottish native animals.

PRIMARY 3 AND 4/3 – ANIMAL FACE SANDWICHES
We have just started our topic on Animals around the World. So far we have identified the major continents and oceans of the world and have classified animals into groups. We have also investigated animal habitats all over the world.
For writing we thought it would be great fun to do a practical activity before we started our writing. We made an animal face sandwich. After we made our sandwich we wrote instructions to show how we made it.
Don’t they look amazing!! The children were very proud of their work.

The Last Supper in P3 and P4/3
P3 and P4/3 were learning about the symbols of Easter yesterday. The discussed the Last Supper and thought about what it meant. They then thought about what they would like to eat and who they would like to have with them if it was their own last supper. Pupils painted their own version of their last supper.

Roman Scavenger Hunt in P3 and P4/3
To finish our Romans theme this term, P3 and P4/3 had a Roman scavenger hunt. In groups of three, pupils were given a question sheet and they had to match the question with information hidden in the classrooms and corridor. They then had to answer the questions. All pupils enjoyed finding the hidden clues and in addition to finding out more about what Romans brought to Britain, they were able to improve their reading skills and reading for information.
Digiweek- Boghall shares how they use digital technology to enhance learning.
A new National Digital Learning Week is taking place this week from 2nd to the 6th March. This is to encourage schools to get involved and share how they are using digital technologies to support learning in the classroom and at home.Digi-week wants to encourage everyone in school to have a go with digital technologies! We love technology in Boghall Primary and are always trying new and exciting things.
We had a special visit in school today from West Lothian Council’s Education Head of Service Mr Jim Cameron, John Low (IT services- education development officer) and John Sexton and Pam McDowall from Glow @ Education Scotland. We shared how we use digital technology in our learning from using Ipods at Stirling Castle, using powtoons, spreadsheets and cameras in Business enterprise to applying for jobs in the technical team.
Pupils from P3 and P4/3 ran a glow meet broadcast to the whole school via glow and pupils from P3-P7 took part in a Question and answer session with our visitors. Our visitors also got to see our chicks (There are 7 and counting!) Blair and Katie from P7 also shared how they used digital technology in their Civil Rights Class talks.
Our visitors were interested and very impressed with what we have been doing and will be sharing what they saw on the digiweek blog. Log in to glow to find out more.
Debating with P3 and P4/3
P3 and P4/3 were having a debate yesterday. They were split into two teams. One team had to be the Iceni tribe, whose leader was Queen Boudicca. The other team were from the Atrebates tribe. The Iceni were a Celtic tribe who hated Rome and the Atrebates were a Celtic tribe who wanted Roman things in Brittania. Each side had to think about the pros and cons and argue either for Roman or Celtic Britain. There were some excellent points made by both sides and it was clear that everyone has learned a lot about Romans and Roman Britain.
