Primary 7 have been busy learning about body organs and their functions. This week we have been learning about the respiratory system and made models of the lungs. The balloon represents the lungs and the plastic bag represents the diaphragm. When you pull the plastic bag down, the balloon inflates – just like the lungs would. It was great fun!

P7 Maths
P7 had lots of fun in maths today working out ratios with skittles. We had to work out the ratio of all the different colours and then work out the proportions. We then used our prior knowledge of fractions, decimals and percentages to convert each. It was so much fun and we now understand ratio even more!
Challenge Friday p6/5, p6 and p7
Challenge Friday this week – we were given 10 minutes to look through an atlas but we had no idea what we had to look out for. Then we were given a map of Scotland and had to plot as many features of Scotland as we could – cities, towns, rivers, seas and islands. The winning group managed to successfully plot 19 points! Well done to Adam Colquhoun, Cooper MacDonald, Cameron Kelman and Destiny Nisbet.

P7 and P6 Businesses
What a busy week we’ve had selling our products and running our services at break and lunch times. Each business has been given two break times/ lunch times and so far every business has been prepared and are making profit! Some businesses have even sold out on their first day and had to restock for the next day – whilst keeping on top of homework/ after school clubs etc! There’s been a few glitches along the way but we see them as learning opportunities and we’ve certainly learned a lot! Thank you to everybody who has supported the businesses so far. We will be continuing with them next week!

P7 Poppy Factory Trip
Primary 7 had a fantastic trip to Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory in Edinburgh today. The veterans that work there were very funny and we learned a lot from listening to their stories. We were also able to share with them everything we know about World War One and World War Two. Some of us were lucky enough to try on some of the old uniforms the soldiers would wear in the trenches. They were very heavy! Even Miss Armstrong had a go! We then had a tour of the factory, watching and learning from the men and women that make the poppies. Every year they make thousands of poppies that are then delivered all around Scotland.

P7 and P6 Business Sales Pitches!
Yesterday afternoon, the P7’s and P6’s presented their sales pitches to Mr McGregor. They managed to control their nerves and presented with confidence. Everybody played their part and some groups made PowerPoints and Powtoons to help support their presentation. A lot of hard work has hopefully paid off! They can’t wait to find out tomorrow if their business idea has been invested in…
