Fairtrade Fortnight

From 23rd February until the 6th March, it is Fairtrade Fortnight. As a Fairtrade school, we will be continuing to show our support for buying Fairtrade. Fair Trade means fair pay and working conditions for farmers and producers. Fair Trade products are made in safe and healthy working conditions, where farmers receive a fair price and have a voice in how their workplace is run. By choosing Fair Trade products, you are not only getting high quality products, you are making a difference in the lives of the people who grow the food you eat and the goods you use.

So what are we doing to help support Fairtrade farmers? Well, for the next two weeks, Fairtrade bananas will be on sale at the desk near the school office every day at break time for just 30p. We will also be running a class competition to see which class can bring the most fair-trade fruit for snack. For every piece of Fairtrade fruit you bring in for your snack, colour in a banana on your class sheet.  The class with the most bananas coloured in by the end of the fortnight, will win a prize!

We will also be holding a Fairtrade song competition. So we are calling out to all future Beyonce’s and 5 Seconds of Summer stars…Write your own song all about Fairtrade to any tune you like and win a prize! Song entries must be handed in by Friday 6th March.

So hopefully you’ll all continue to show your support in buying Fairtrade products! Get munching those bananas!
