This afternoon I thought we could have a little fun by making our own caterpillars to race, they are very simple and you will need is :
Paper
Pens
Scissors
2 Straws
Watch the clip below for instructions on how to make your caterpillars. Get a grown up to help you with the cutting if you need to. Why not challenge your Grown ups to a race or your Brothers or sisters. Have fun and let me know how you get on.
Hello everyone! I hope we are all and had a lovely weekend. For our activity this afternoon, I would like us to have a go at making our very own garden wind chimes.
These can be made from lots of different things we can find in and around our homes – things like twigs/sticks, wool/string, old CD discs, tin cans … the list is endless! Below are some examples along with the link to explain the process of making them.

Research facts about frogs. Start with reading ‘Fantastic Frog Facts’ on page 24. Then use the internet to find out more facts. Write down your findings in your jotter.
Draw 5 frogs and cut them out. Let’s sing the song again but this time act it out using the frogs you have made. You could use a chair, a cushion or a piece of wood outside for the log and if you can’t make your own frogs, you could use rolled up socks or a selection of cuddly toys.
Using your props, extend your learning by asking questions such
as; “How many frogs would be left if 2 jumped in at the same
time?” “What about if 4 more frogs hopped on the log?” etc. Write your answers in your jotter.
Time to take a break… Fischy music will be going live for another virtual assembly at 11am. Don’t forget to join in:
On page 25, you can see the life cycle of a frog. Learn more about by going onto the BBC Bitesize Website:
In your jotter, draw your own diagram to show the life cycle of a frog and label it.
Time for some drama… describe how tadpoles move. Are they quick, rapid, speedy, fast? Do they wriggle and dart about? Try to imitate a tadpole! What about frogs? Do they jump using their back legs? Try to jump like a frog!
After all your hard work, let’s cuddle up on the couch and listen to a story. Listen out to the rhyming words:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPDyXsSbxOY
Now, in your jotter, draw and label as many things as you can think of that rhyme with ‘frog’.
Remember to send in photos of your finishes work! Before lunch time, why not head out to do the Daily Mile. Have a look at the ‘Daily Mile At Home’ challenges:
Keep an eye on the blog this afternoon. Laura and Maisie will be posting some fun activities for you to do!
Today we are going to learn about RESILIANCE – it’s a big word which just means being able to” bounce back” from things that sometimes go wrong
Watch and listen to the clip below
Think about the things which will help you become resilient:
get plenty of sleep
talk and connect with other people
learn new things
express how you are feeling
take time to rest and relax
Do you try to do all of these things?
How could you do some of them better?
Watch and listen to the Trolls singing about getting back up again.
Now think and talk to a family member about a time when you were able to “get back up again” and not give up. I am sure you can think of lots of examples when you tried really hard to do something. That shows RESILIANCE!!
Thank you for all your hard work this week. We will see you on Monday.
Research facts about farm animals. Read the fact bubble on page 22 then use the internet or non-fiction book to find out facts about your favourite farm animals. You can write your findings in your jotter.
Make your own farm. You can build a model, draw a landscape or create a collage. Check out the ‘Mini locations‘ section on page 23 for some ideas and things to think about when making your farm. Here are some ideas:
Together you can talk about how farms support our communities. What role does the farmer play? Think about what animals produce. You could look at what food you have at home. Where does it come from? Check out the ‘All About Farms’ section on page 23 for some questions to talk about.
Learn about animals and their young. Sometimes baby animals have a different name from their mummies. Can you find out the names of all the different farm animals and their young?
Let’s finish by watching and listening to a story about a very lazy farmer… Here’s ‘Farmer Duck’ by Martin Waddell:

We will be back in time for Elevenses with David Walliams. Remember to keep an eye out for this week’s assembly presentation being posted on the blog.
Following on from last weeks ‘Silly Face Sandwich’ theme, today we will be making ‘Wacky Face Weetabix’. Time to have another wee rummage around the kitchen and get creative!
We cannot wait to see your creations!
To finish up this afternoon, lets have another Cosmic Kids Yoga Adventure with Colonel Crockles the Crocodile!
Good afternoon, I hope you have all had a fun morning. The weather isn’t great today so I have a fun indoor activity for you to do. All you will need is a large tub that will hold water or you can even do this in your kitchen sink. Some washing up liquid or shampoo, whisks, food colouring and glitter (optional).
All you need to do is fill your tub or basin with water and the soap. You add your colour and then whisk! Look at the patterns you are making and how it slowly changes colour.
Once you have whisked up your bubbles you can have fun playing. how do the bubbles feel in your hands? Can you make any shapes in the bubbles? How about hiding some small objects in the bubbles and using only your hands try and guess what they are.
I hope you have fun with your bubbles and cant wait to see all your pictures.
