What a busy week!

This week we’ve been very busy learning about all the class routines and when everything happens in our busy week!
In literacy we wrote birth announcements for Mary Queen of Scots. We did fancy writing to make it look special because she was very important.
We were learning numbers up to 1000 and how to count backwards in ones from different 3-digit numbers.
In Health and Wellbeing we thought about our individual talents and why they make us special.
Aaron – I am kind

Rory – I play with my friend and make them laugh all the time
Kyle – I make lots of different animal noises
Jay – I am nice to other people
Dylan – I am helpful
In maths with Mrs Collings we started learning about time and we played a game called Fling the teacher. We had to answer some questions about time – we enjoyed making the teacher fly from the trebuchet!

In Science we started learning about how things move and the forces that we use – pull and push.

Meet the Teacher

What a fantastic turnout for Meet the Teacher on Wednesday night! We can’t thank you enough for taking part and the interest shown in your child’s education. It was lovely to see so many parents and we hope you enjoyed it and found it to be a very worthwhile experience.

This has been a busy second week in P3C. This is what we have been up to.

 

Maths

This week in math and numeracy we have been investigated Place Value.

Grace: I liked putting numbers into the right place.

Nina: I liked doing place value, especially the number talk outside.

Jess: I enjoyed outdoor number talk.

Isla: I liked the place value song.

Harris: I liked the units, tens, hundreds and thousands.

Eden: I liked the maths games.

Keegan: I liked the place value song.

Sophie S: I liked going outside for the place value challenge.

 

Literacy

This week we have written about how Mrs Twit became so ugly, through her ugly thoughts. So we have written anti Twit poems with only good thoughts.

Harris: I liked doing the Anti Twit poem.

Isla: I liked the Anti Twit poem.

Eden: I liked writing the poem because we learned more.

Nina: I liked writing about Mrs Twit and Mr Twit.

Grace: I liked the unicorn part of my poem.

Sophie S: I liked the Unikitty and kittens part of my poem.

 

LAC

Grace: We have learned about our new behaviour system and famous Bathgate Bairns.

Isla: I enjoyed drawing the other half Sir James Young Simpson’s face.

Eden: I liked talking about the Catherine Hogg Blair in my home learning.

Archie: At PE when we were doing sports.

Sophie M: I liked doing the catching in outdoor PE.

Welcome to P4b!

On Tuesday we were really pleased to welcome the children back to school and to see our BRAND NEW classroom!

OUR FIRST WEEK IN P7a

Monday was an inset day so we(the pupils) all started P7 on Tuesday 22nd August 2017.

Fabbydabbydee in P2b!

P2b have had a great first week back and here are some of the things we have been learning about and what we have thought about…

Caitlin- We have been learning about more 2d shapes!

Noah- We have been learning to count up in 2’s.

Gracie- It’s been a great week back!

Ava- We have been learning the alphabet and practicing our handwriting.

Lewis- We have been adding numbers together.

Maksim- We have been revising number bonds to 10.

Evie- we have been learning number bond to 20.

Kaiden- We have been learning about growth mindsets.

Matthias- We were writing about what we did in the summer holidays.

Reiss- We really like our new teacher!

Kyle- We were also learning about our needs and wants and spoke about our rights as a child.

P3C

In P3c we have been very busy. In literacy, we have learned about The Twits, and we have learned to use adjectives and similes. In Maths we have started to investigate Place Value and in our other learning we have learned about our rights and made a class charter themed on the Xbox and the school’s new behaviour system.

Nina-I enjoyed Disney Land and I was excited to come back to school for the last 2 days to see my friends

Jess-In nearly two weeks I am off to Majorca…It will really good fun as I will be going swimming

Eden-I am excited for my holidays I am going to Menorca the same time as Jess. I am looking forward to going to the water park

Lily-I am excited because I am going to Little Mix Concert tonight with Grace

Dylan- I am looking forward to going to my dad’s to see all my friends

Grace- I am super excited to go to Florida in a week

Kaycee- I am excited to go to Sri Lanka in the holidays

Florence- I am excited because I am going to Turkey

Ross-I am looking forward to going to Ibiza in the holidays

Archie- I am looking forward to Florida in the holidays at the same time as Grace

Eva- I am looking forward to Zante in Greece

Niamh- I am looking forward to the holidays. I don’t know where I am going yet

Katie- I can’t wait to got to Spain and it is right next to the beach. There is also a swimming pool

This year has been a really busy one in P4b and we would like to share some of our highlights with you.
Katie – I’ve enjoyed STEM this year.
Jay – I was really happy to win P4bs got talent.
Hayley – I enjoyed Maths doing times tables.
Jack – I liked getting into the Golden Club.
Louie – I enjoyed learning about Mary, Queen of Scots.
Emma – I enjoyed doing Celebrating Success. I was very pleased to get an award.
Jacob – I liked doing energy because we got to make circuits.
Callum – I think P4b was my best year so far in school because it was really fun.
Rose – I liked STEM this year because we made spaghetti towers and got to eat the sweets afterwards.
Isaac – I was pleased to come 3rd
Aryan – I liked doing the quick fire competitions in Maths with Mrs Mackenzie.
Emily – I really enjoyed the golden club event.
Ela – I enjoyed starting school in Scotland.
Jason – I enjoyed doing chimney sums and bus stop sums.
Rayen – I liked Golden Time because it’s the first time I’ve done it.
Guy – I enjoyed doing spelling so I can get better at it.
Lucy – I liked getting MVP.
Jaime-Lee – I made a challenge in P3 to use capital letters and full stops and I think I’ve improved.
Maisey – I enjoyed making the Viking shields.
Skye – I enjoyed everything. I especially enjoyed Maths doing times tables.
Nathan – I enjoyed the assembly because I was a blacksmith.
Luke – I liked doing the swimming assessment.
Elliot – Getting my first certificate at Celebrating Success.

Ben – I really enjoyed making 2d shape people and animals.

P7a

P7 have had a busy couple of weeks. Last week we had our Careers Fayre. We would like to thank everyone who volunteered to come along to talk to us about their job. We had a great time speaking to people about their jobs and asking them questions which we created in class. This has helped to have a better understanding of the skills and qualities required for different jobs. We also got some freebies such as a water bottle and a sharpener!

We all really enjoyed our visit to our new schools. We are all excited to start our new adventure after the Summer. Gemma M enjoyed science as it was new and interesting. Lucy loved P.E and Olivia really enjoyed maths. Cameron and Geo got lost as they were moving around the school but they still had a brilliant week.

Next week is our last week at Balbardie Primary School and we are all looking forward to the Risk Factory on Monday. Casey is really excited about the Oscars party on Thursday. Lexis is really looking forward to the netball vs pupils game on Tuesday.

P1b

Matthias – We have been learning about keeping safe and people who help us. Our parents, the police, your sister, your brother, your teacher all keep us safe and help us.
Caitlin – We have been learning about safety and how your parents can keep you safe. We looked at safe and unsafe things that babies could eat. There were pictures of cleaning sprays which were unsafe. There was a milk bottle which was safe.
Noah – We worked with a partner and looked at pictures. We had to talk about if it was safe or unsafe. There was a boy eating grapes and I thought it was unsafe as he was eating all by himself and could have choked.
Lewis – I have enjoyed doing Maths this week. I have been adding and taking away.
Max – I like learning about nature.
Reiss – I like learning about butterflies and their life cycle. They come out of their eggs and turn into a big, beautiful butterfly.
Scott – I liked when we were learning about animals in nature and insects.
Josh – I liked learning about safe and unsafe food for babies to eat.
Marcus – I liked learning about the safe and unsafe baby food too.
Kyle – I like learning in Phonics and we have less amount of people in the class and all of the work that we do.
Jacob – I like getting Dojo points and getting a prize if you get the most Dojo points you get a prize.
Gracie – I love school and I love everything about it.
Taylor – I like playtime because I get to play with my friends and eat my snack.

P3/2 thoughts…

In our P3/2 ‘Healthy Lives’ topic:

 

Zara – I got to try different kinds of banana.  My favourite was the banana loaf and the cereal bar.

Kaycee – My favourite banana was the banana loaf.  It was delicious.

Florence – We got to learn about food labels.  Foods contain protein, carbohydrates and fats.

Ellie – I liked tasting different kinds of banana because some of them were new to me.

Grace – I liked the banana tasting at our own breakfast bar.  It was great fun.

Sophie – I enjoyed learning about Fair Trade yesterday.  I had never heard of this before.

Katie – I really enjoyed Golden Time this week because I had so much fun with Sophie.

Isla – I am the same as Zara.  I loved all the different ways to enjoy a banana.

Ross – This week I enjoyed doing the parachute challenge in outdoor PE.

Luis – I liked doing the food label poster on Tuesday.   I created a poster about ice cream and found out about nutrition.

Rory – I have had a very fun and active week in outdoor PE and playing in the play ground

Max – I liked play outside in outdoor PE as well.

Archie – I liked doing outdoor PE yesterday because it was fun because we got to go in the parachute.

Jess – I liked doing the human body in health and wellbeing,

Eden – I liked eating different kinds of banana yesterday.  I found out that you can get a red banana.

Harris – I would like to wish everybody going into High School ‘Goodbye’ and ‘all the best’.

Eva – I liked learning about bananas because we got to try all the different kinds.

Lily – In outdoor PE we got to play extreme tunnel tig to warm up.
