Our blog post didn’t work last week so we’ve got two weeks worth of highlights to share! In literacy, we have been focusing on persuasive writing. Last week Miss Carrera pretended that school was going to be open on Saturdays – we had a lot to say about this! We thought up reasons why school should not be open on Saturdays and we have been working on writing a persuasive essay. In Numeracy, we are continuing to learn about 3D shapes. We looked at lots of different 3D shapes and thought about the properties of each one. We can say how many faces, edges and vertices a 3D shape has. For our Holyrood topic, we have been looking at the different political parties in the Scottish Parliament. In groups, we used iPads to research a different political party. We then shared our findings with the class and talked about which party we thought was the best. The majority of the class thought that the Green Party sounded the best, because we think that the saving the environment is really important. Here are some of our other highlights:

We have had a really busy and exciting week! We have been practicing for our Jazzamatazz concert next week and are really excited to perform in front of our families. We have come to the end of our Victorians topic and are working in pairs to create a fact file with information about what we have learned. A museum assistant visited us with loads of amazing and real Victorian artefacts which we got to hold. As part of 30 Days of Happiness, our targets this week were to make someone laugh; meditate; do 15 minutes of exercise; and share a good memory.

Our favourite part about this week was our fantastic trip to New Lanark. We got to go on a ride called the Annie McLeod experience which was really cool. We went on a tour all around the village and even got to go inside Robert Owen’s house. We had a great time.

Today some of our parents came in to see what activities we do for VCOP. Thank you for visiting us!

On Wednesday at 11 am we will be performing at our Jazzamatazz Concert – if you can come along please fill in and return the slip handed out yesterday.

Here are some pictures from the trip to New Lanark. Enjoy the weekend!
