Exploring the World Outdoors

At our nursery, we see the outdoors not just as a space, but as a vital part of every child’s learning journey. It’s a place where discovery, curiosity, and growth come to life. Leading our outdoor learning approach is Gillian, alongside Rachael, Caitlin, Emma and Debbie —each bringing energy, creativity, and a deep commitment to the benefits of outdoor play.

We are proud to embed a clear, shared vision for outdoor learning across the nursery. Through regular monitoring, reflection, and review, we ensure that every outdoor experience is purposeful, inclusive, and enriching.

Our outdoor curriculum is carefully planned and continually evolving. As a team, we explore new ideas together—discussing, evaluating, and refining activities to make sure they support meaningful learning and respond to the interests of the children.

Outdoor learning is fully integrated into our curriculum for both the 2–3 and 3–5 age groups, ensuring that all children have daily opportunities to connect with nature and explore the world around them. Whether it’s through imaginative play, active movement, or nature-based problem-solving, the outdoors helps children develop essential life skills like perseverance, independence, critical thinking, and a love of healthy living.

We see the outdoors as a natural extension of our learning spaces—where imaginations grow, and every child is encouraged to wonder, explore, and thrive.
