History

History – S3 and S4

Learning Experiences:

By the end of S4, pupils will have completed a wide range of outcomes in the following broad historical study areas:

  • Scottish: Pupils will study an important period of Scottish history. By exploring significant issues during this period, pupils will develop the skills to interpret and evaluate a range of historical evidence.
  • British: Pupils will study a key episode of British history. Through studying a critical event of British history, pupils will develop techniques to describe, explain and present information – as well as draw conclusions on its significance and impact for future generations.
  • European and World: Pupils will study a significant era of European and World History. In doing so pupils will develop techniques to compare differing historical viewpoints on the events under study, taking into account their content and the circumstances of the time.

 

Students will work individually and in groups.   The nature of the work will include:  investigations; fieldwork; discussion / debates; completion of written tasks of varying lengths; preparing individual and group presentations.

Course work will also encourage the development of a range of numeracy and literacy skills and various aspects of Health & Well-being.
