Last week, Shetland Amenity Trust delivered 100 native sapling trees from the Woodland Trust to Whalsay School. Miss Holzheimer lead the secondary planting with S1 and S2 with help from volunteers Alison and Vera. Miss Irvine and Miss Paterson along with Caroline and Gemma helped P7 to plant trees at the Primary. It was a ‘tough pick’ due to the stony ground but everybody persevered and dug out stones to get them planted. Stakes and guards are around the saplings to help them grow and we look forward to seeing how they get on.
Big thanks to the staff, bairns, and volunteers Alison, Caroline, Gemma, and Vera for the planting and also to Allister for strimming the grass.
