P6 Spring Concert

Last week Primary 6 hosted a Spring Concert in the canteen.

Primary 6 started to plan the event in January when we were split into the following groups, Posters, Raffles, Tickets and Refreshments.

One group wrote an email to the music instructors asking who would like to perform at the concert and then they made posters to promote the event.

The raffle group had to write a letter to parents to tell them when the event was taking place and to ask for raffle donations. We gathered some really good prizes including tokens for the Mad House, an overnight stay in Unst, chocolates, blanket, Smiggle items and a lot more. At the event we we had to sell the raffles too.

The ticket group had to design the ticket to include the time and date. When ticket orders came in we had to make sure people got the right number of tickets.

The baking group went to the shop and bought ingredients for the chocolate krispies and some juice. We had to go over to the secondary to bake in the HE room on Tuesday afternoon. It was good fun and we learned how to wash dishes! We made about 93 krispies.

Primary 5/6 started the concert playing Ukuleles Groove Time and Emile Sandi. They thanked the parent council for buying some more Ukuleles for the school. Primary 6/7 played a lot of different instruments as a band and they played Funky Dance in blue and Patrick’s Reel.

We also had people playing fiddle, piano and accordion during the concert. Everybody played well and it sounded really good.

After the concert we had refreshments in Room 7, handed out raffle prizes and then tidied up.

Today we counted the money and we have raised £663 which will go into the Primary School Trip fund.

We would like to thank the music instructors including Mrs Poleson and Ms Simpson, everybody who played at the concert and all those who came to support us and listen to our concert.
