WANTED!

As part of our Scotland topic we learned about the Wars of Independence. William Wallace was a key figure in the Wars of Independence and he is now thought of as a Scottish hero. Wallace is most famous for leading the Scots to victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297. He was victorious in defeating the English army at Stirling Bridge. King of England, Edward I was furious and wanted Wallace dead! We created wanted posters offering a reward for the capture of William Wallace, we used tea bags to make the posters look old.

Hockey fun!

Miss Copland had a brilliant idea for the last week of P.E before the holidays. The bairns have been working on their hockey skills this term so Miss Copland organised a fun day of hockey games…with a mystery team taking part. The bairns were wondering who the mystery team was when to their surprise Miss Irvine and Mrs Williamson came running into the gym hall! We had great fun playing each other. Vaila’s competitive side came out playing the teachers, her celebration when she scored against the teachers was brilliant! The final game was very exciting, it was…

The Jamieson Sisters vs The Copland Sisters!

The Copland Sisters were victorious! Everyone had great fun and shook hands at the end. 🙂

Vaila’s Solo

Here’s pictures of Vaila singing her two solo songs in the music festival:

  1. I wish it would rain by Nanci Griffith
  2. Doll on a Music Box from the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Vaila was an absolute star! She gave a confident performance and was given a SILVER PLUS!

Well done Vaila, we’re all very proud of you. 🙂 Big thank-you to our amazingly talented kitchen assistant Sharon who played the guitar and piano for Vaila.

Music Festival

IMG_4938 IMG_4954 IMG_4957IMG_4964

We were all dressed in Fair Isle Ganseys yesterday for the music festival. We were singing as part of the Northmavine Choir with all the bairns from Urafirth and Ollaberry Primary School. We sung the Shetland dialect song ‘Farewell to Yell’ and we got a SILVER PLUS for our performance! We were so happy 🙂

Northmavine UHA

We were so excited when the Jarl Squad came to our school. It was a tight squeeze in the hall with the whole squad and all the visitors. The Jarl Squad sang the Up Helly Aa song and rolling home then we got to hold some of their weapons! The Viking Princesses looked lovely, they let the bairns try on their outfits. We had a boston two step before the Jarl Squad made for the North Roe Hall for some mince and tatties!
