Duncan our janitor not only does a fabulous job of looking after us and our school grounds but he also came to show us the caterpillars he is growing.
They are growing fast and will hopefully be a beautiful addition to our butterfly garden.
We had 3 weeks to try and make a gymnastics routine with a partner or small group. There had to be a minimum of four moves and a maximum of eight. We had to include a teddy bear roll in our sequence. We suggested music to put our sequence too. We had a vote to see what song we should do our routine to. Lisa Johnsons ‘tears’ won. We did our sequence to that but it didn’t feel right so we went with the second most popular song ‘faded’ by Alan Walker and it was perfect!

Today, primaries 1 and 6 went to see the exhibition at Bonhoga. They saw all the work that they had done with Mrs Hunter and Amy Gear in Art. They also saw work done by children from other schools in Shetland.
We asked the primary 1 what their favourite things were. They said “busy bogies”, “the firework”, “outside in the long grass among the sculptures” and “finding pencils upstairs”
Primary 2/3 topic is the Olympics. We have turned the house corner into a mini gym.
“We can pretend we are training for the Olympics because we have dumbbells, mats and a step” By Emily
“Primary 2/3 have their own exercise booklets. Every week when we go in the mini gym we write down what exercise we have been doing” By Gene
“We made our own membership cards for the mini gym. We wrote our names on the cards and a membership number and our date of birth. Mrs Mouat laminated them” By Ailidh
“We enjoy going in the mini gym because it is lots of fun” by Emily, Gene and Ailidh.
Anya’s dad is a policeman. He came in to tell us all about his job. He brought in Axle, an adorable Labrador pup training to be a police dog able to sniff out illegal drugs. We learned how Axle and the other dogs are trained to do their job and we also saw some equipment the police use to help them. We really enjoyed their visit.
