Primary 1 Learning Log, Week 5

This week we have enjoyed making and playing in our new cake shop, finishing our paper mache space helmets, making oxygen backpacks with junk, singing number songs and our Christmas show songs with Primary 2.  We also enjoyed Mandarin with Mr Lei and Fun Fit with Jacqui.

We have been been getting really good at sounding out words using all the sounds/letters we have got so far.  We were introduced to Tiger 10 and have written our weekend news on our own.

Next week we will learn our final number from Number Zoo and move on to the next group of letters in Jolly Phonics.

Space seeds

Last week primary 6/7 got space seeds. Some of the class were away on a school trip to Edinburgh. So the secondary 3 pupils planted the seeds for us. Every week a small group of people go to the green house to water the seeds and turn them every second day. We are keeping a record of how many seeds have germinated, we have colours  for the seeds, some blue and some red. 83 seeds from the red side have germinated, and 62 from the blue side. We don’t know which seeds have been in space. We all wrote our hypothesis on which have gone up to space and which have not.    by Asia, Holly, Shay and Scott  IMG_0636 IMG_0637 IMG_0638 IMG_0639

News Reports – The Moon Landing

This week primary 6 and 7 made news report videos about the landing on the moon in 1969. We chose groups and then decided who was doing each role – newsreader, camera operator and director. We had to research the information first, write a script and then record it. We found out that the moon landing was a huge event, with over 500 million people watching it on their televisions. We enjoyed this task because you had to cooperate and also learn about space history at the same time. Written by Sophie and Ewen
