This week the children have had opportunities to develop their understanding of numbers to five through exploring games and natural materials.
We helped each other by checking each otherβs answers and working together.
The children last week have taken an interest in drawing treasure maps!
We have followed this interest by developing an area with maps, pirate ships, making “treasure” and we might even go on a treasure hunt one day…..
We have tried some of our own harvested food for snack last week, new potatoes with butter! yummy!
We have had another busy week in Primary 1 as we have been learning about the iΒ and pΒ sound. We have been practising how to write numbers 1-3 and we took part in some ordering and counting activities.
On Thursday we sang some songs about colours and did some finger painting to make rainbow pictures.
We were also very excited to take home our beanstalks which we planted last week. We have learned how to plant seeds in soil and what plants need to grow. Feel free to send in updates on your beanstalk!
Finally, we are looking forward to welcoming families on Thursday 12th September to our Open Afternoon which takes place from 2.45-3.25. See you then!
We have been harvesting food from our garden this week.Β So far we have got 2 different types of potatoes and beetroot!
We have been keeping an eye on our apples on our apple tree and our tomatoes and they are both nearly ready too!
Please help yourselves to these foods in our cloakroom to take home, we would love to see any pictures of you cooking or eating them!
Over the past few weeks we have enjoyed exploring traditional tales such as Jack and the Beanstalk and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Today we heard the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff and made predictions about what would happen next.
Afterwards, the children had the option of making a scary troll mask or goat mask. The children listened well and developed their cutting skills too.
We have had a busy first couple of weeks in ELC settling into our new routines and rules.
Lots of changes have happened over the summer in our ELC, with a new cloakroom area, a covered outdoor area and now some children stay all day in ELC and have lunch.
We have also welcomed new staff members in ELC, please come and say hello!
This term we are also learning about Nursery Rhymes. Mrs Ramage used the “talking tub” to find out what Nursery Rhymes we already know and what ones we would like to sing.
Please leave a comment on our posts and share photos with your child, we love to hear your views!
We would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new Primary 1s and families. We have been delighted with how well the children have already started to pick up our daily routines and have managed well in the lunch hall. We have had a busy week exploring the classroom, playing in our outdoor areas and have enjoyed sharing stories and songs together.
We will update our blog regularly so please visit from time to time to see what we have been up to.
Primary 1 have had lots of fun thinking of songs which remind them of this year. You might want to play some of these songs over the summer!
