Writing – Narrative text

Use the Narrative text examples about, “The duck with a broken wing” to help you as you plan and write your Narrative text.

  • Create your own character. Label your character with adjectives to describe what they look like and their personality.
  • Now draw the setting ( where the story takes place ).  Label your drawing with adjectives.
  • Write a plan about what the problem is.
  • Then write about the solution to the problem. ( How is the problem resolved? )

You should follow the Narrative text structure –

  • Title – this should tell us what the story is about.
  • Orientation – who the characters are, where the events took place and when the events happened.
  • Complication – tells us about a problem in the correct sequence.
  • Resolution – how the problem is solved.

Some storyline suggestions eg fishermen out at sea on a boat and there is a storm, hillwalkers who get lost, an animal escapes from the zoo.
