Hello, I hope you’re all safe and well at home.
I thought I would share some news from my garden. At the end of each winter we have lots of frogs appear at our pond. One year we counted 54! This picture was taken in the middle of March.
Shortly afterwards the pond begins to fill with frogspawn. It looks like big blobs of jelly!
Each little blob is an egg. We’ve been watching closely – and hoping the goldfish didn’t eat them!
A tadpole pushes its way out of each egg. These tadpoles are about four weeks old now. The next stage will be for them to grow legs. I’ll keep watching and share pictures with you when they do.
In the meantime, I’m sure you’ve all seen the wonderful stories in the Kingsland Story Corner. Please let us know what you think. I hope you enjoyed the first virtual assembly too. Watch here if you’ve not seen it yet.
Take care and please email with any questions or to say hello,
Mrs McGilp
This is very exciting Mrs McGilp! We have seen some frogspawn in the Tweed in Haylodge recently and will visit again soon to see if there is any progress. We did see some frogs at Kailzie Gardens when it was still open.
Rowan Wilkinson
That sounds great Rowan! Please let me know how you get on and if the tadpoles are turning into froglets, take a picture if you can. I hope you are all well.
