Easter Service 2025

A long term draws to a close with a lovely church service where P1-3 and the EYC entertained us with the Easter story and spring songs. 🐇🐣

Our Easter card winner were presented with a prize. Each year the cards get harder to judge with the children putting in lots of time and effort into making them lovely.

P3 pupils were presented with their certificates from The Quay Zone for completing a 6 weeks block of swimming lessons. 🏊‍♂️

P7 were also presented with their leavers hoodies to mark the beginning of their final term in primary school.

We hope you all enjoy your Easter Break and look forward to welcoming the children back on the 22nd of April.

Term 3

We started this term with learning about the Scots Language. We learned the songs “Jeannie McColl” and performed this at our Scottish afternoon. Primary 1 learned the poem “Mince and Tatties”, Primary 2  did “Crocodile”  and Primary 3 learned “The Sair Finger”. We are so proud of every single one of the pupils for taking the time at home to learn their poem. A big thank you to everyone at home for your help!

With the poetry theme we took on the challenge of becoming poets during our Talk for Writing sessions. We looked at different techniques such as, rhyme, alliteration and similes and used these to create a number of poems.

In maths we have been learning about money and measure, as well as a big focus on number. It has been great to see so many of the pupils challenging themselves with higher numbers and using the concrete materials to help them.

PE days this term will continue to be a Monday and Thursday, please make sure your child has a change of clothes and appropriate trainers / gym shoes on these days.

Scottish Concert 05.02.25

The children performed Scottish songs and recited some Burns poems for their parents and carers at our Scottish assembly on Wednesday 5th February. Children were judged when reciting their Burns poems by members of the Carrick Burns Club who picked 2 runners up and 1 overall winner from each year group. We  would like to thank Davie Hunter who has been dedicating his own time to be in classes weekly on the run up to our concert to help the children to learn their Scottish songs.

The Twinkly Nativity

✨EYC and P1-3 “The Twinkly Nativity”✨
Well done to all of the children who took part in the nativity, rehearsed their lines, learned actions to songs and put in 100% effort as always!! And a huge thank you to all parents and carers for helping with rehearsals at home and for coming to support the children at their performance – it doesn’t go unnoticed 😊

Term 2 in P1/2/3

Welcome to the P1/2/3  blog! We will be sharing with you what we have been up to in Term 2 so far.

This term, our Talk for Writing text was ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. We were welcomed by a huge beanstalk in our classroom one day and have been discovering different ways to describe it. We have been using lots of similes and the power of 3 to learn lots of new adjectives. It was a fun unit!!

In maths, we have been having a big focus on number. P1 have been working hard to order numbers to 30 and have been introduced to addition and subtraction. They are all doing fabulous! P2/3 have also had a big focus on number and have been learning a  ‘number of the day’ and breaking this down to really understand it.

We also looked at money and symmetry and had a little insight to weight through out Christmas post office!

Every Wednesday we were joined by Miss Green for music. We have been learning lots of different beats to different music and playing lots of musical games. We are sad to see Miss Green go but thank her for everything she taught us!

This term we had our ‘Twinkly Nativity’ Miss Muir and Miss Ingram are very proud of every pupil in the class for their excellent effort during rehearsals. We have decided as a class we LOVE nativity and already cannot wait for next year.

We are so excited to see what term 3 will bring.

We hope everyone has a lovely Christmas when it comes!

P1-3

Welcome to the Primary 1-3 page! Miss Muir is our teacher this year and Mrs Parker works with us to help with literacy and numeracy every morning.  Miss Ingram supports us in class on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

We have all settled in well to term 1 and have been following routines and getting used to our areas. We are very lucky this year to have the whole downstairs area including both classrooms and open area to develop our learning.

We had an interesting visitor to our school at the start of the term who made an appearance at the field. After lots of investigation we discovered it was a tree giant! We started to learn the text of the Tree Giant through out Talk for Writing and innovated to make our own information texts.

In maths we have been doing lots of number work. Primary 1 have been visiting Ten Town to learn all about their numbers to 10. We have met lots of different characters to help us. We have also been learning about pattern and shape and exploring the different 2D and 3D shapes within our environment.

Our Science topic is the Sun Moon and Stars. We have had lots of fun learning about shadows and the different planets. We even had a go at making our own mnemonic to remember the order of the planets.

We have also been learning about the Egyptians this term and are really excited to keep discovering new and interesting facts about them.

P1-3 have been working with Miss Green from Music Heroes to practice singing. She joins us on a Wednesday afternoon and will be with us until Christmas.

Outdoor days will be every second Friday. P1 and P3/2 will be going on alternate Fridays. P1 will be joining the EYC and P4 will be joining P3/2.

End of year and leavers assembly

What a morning we had at Dailly Primary today. Our end of year and leavers assembly was incredible. We were treated to choral performances by every class from the EYC to P7. Followed by instrumental performances by P5/4 and P76. P7 treated us to their one off performance of “Loose Feet” inspired by the movie Footloose. P7 we are so proud of you…good luck on your next step.

Term 3

Term 3 in primary 1 was a busy one!

We started the term off with our Scotland Topic and our fabulous trip to Burns Cottage. The class had a brilliant time and learnt a lot about Robert Burns.

We covered lots of new sounds and common words throughout the term and are working really hard to all become independent writers.

In term 4 we have our sports day coming up which we have been training for. We will also be participating in inter-house games and out mini p1-3 championship.

Forest Fridays will continue this term and we hope the weather is going to keep getting better. Remember if the weather is nice to provide your child with a sun hat and sun cream!
