Watch How We Grow – Measuring
We have been learning about different ways to measure by height weight and capacity. We worked together with the ladies and created a wall display ‘Watch how we Grow’ showcasing our range of heights across the EYC. The length of the ribbon is the length of each child, who then created their own flowers to make a pretty flower bed. 🌺🌷🌸🌻💐
EYC OUTDOOR LEARNING
Another October fun filled day in the forest for the EYC children! Everyone was SO busy. We created our own paints with the mortar & pestle using berries and leaves; practiced our balancing and jumping skills on the big log; played circle games and tig; climbed trees; compared sizes of branches and trees; created lots of mud pies; shared a story and found lots of interesting mushrooms and fungi! Everyone is learning to respect the boundaries set and watch out for any risky business!! We had so many sensible children alerting the ladies to danger! We talked about slips and falls, the high river after all of the recent rain, broken glass, jaggy trees and stinging nettles! 🌲🪵🌿🍂🍄🎨🏕
EYC & P1- Forest School Learning Approach
On the 7th October the EYC and P1 experienced the great outdoors all day long as they took a forest kindergarten approach to learning! Armed with toilets, tents, tarps and tasty lunches they explored the sights, sounds and smells around them. As they played the children were developing their fine & gross motor skills, risk awareness, listening skills, sensory awareness, maths & numeracy skills and language & literacy skills! A busy and fun day was had by all! 🌲🍁🍂🏕
P5/4 Bonfire Night
Primary 5/4 have been learning about Bonfire Night. We enjoyed various activities including making safety posters using the Poster My Wall website, portraits of Guy Fawkes and salt painting fireworks.
Harvest Service
The whole school took part in performing at the Harvest Service at the church.
P4-7 Halloween Party
P5/4 Halloween Activities
It was brilliant to see such great teamwork in Primary 5/4 today. The children worked in groups to complete Halloween challenges such as pumpkin sweet towers, Frankenstein towers, skeleton pictures, bone towers and making spiders and spider webs.
P5/4 Term 1
Primary 5/4 have had a busy first Term. We have been creating our Class Charter, learning about 2D shapes and 3D objects, place value and practising our new spelling words. Some of the children have been enjoying completing lego challenges and we have been learning through play-based learning activities.
P5/4 demonstrated some of our spelling activities during our first open morning and enjoyed playing place value games with parents during our second open morning.
Primary 5/4 (with help from some of p6/7) were given a range of challenges including building a boat from lolly sticks, marshmallow towers, lego pyramids, paper tissue aeroplanes and spaghetti bridges. They then had to use their measurement skills.
Term 2 Here we come …. Keep an eye out for what we are going to get up to this term!
Dolphin House 2022
P7/6 along with a few pupils from P5 had an amazing week at Dolphin House! Over the week, they were working towards their John Muir Award and using his 4 key objectives :- Discover, Conserve, Explore and Share. 
Our first day at Dolphin house involved some archery, we had lots of fun and settled in well.
We had a productive second day hill walking. 
We got to experience some breathtaking views throughout our walk and appreciate what a beautiful country we live in. Some very tired children (and adults) this day!

We had a fabulous day paddle boarding and canoeing! 
A night walk through Culzean castle and then a disco for our last evening at Dolphin House! We had so much fun!
