Killochan house is named after a famous local castle.                Killochan Castle is one of the finest fortified houses in South Scotland and was built in the late 16th century.  Dailly is in the Parish of Dailly whose ancient name was Dalinakeran. Machrikill chapel dedicated to St. Machar stood near the old castle of Kilkerran a place passed on the Barony Walk.
