EYC Term 2

Term 2 was a busy term for the EYC children with Christmas and lots of other exciting activities.

Christmas
The EYC had a great day exploring the Little Play Planet in Ayr. The children had a super time exploring all of the different shops and toys. Afterwards they enjoyed a buffet lunch and icecream in the party room! Lots of happy little festive faces all around! The children also enjoyed their Christmas party and took part in the Christmas Nativity ‘The Twinkly Nativity’.

Intergenerational Learning
Our EYC pupils have been taking part in Intergenerational Learning with the ladies of the village Monday club. The aim of intergenerational learning is to make links with the community, to bring people together in purposeful, mutually beneficial activities which promote greater understanding and respect between generations. It is inclusive and builds on positive resources that the younger and older generation have to offer each other in a fun way. The children have enjoyed spending time with the ladies, having snack and reading stories. The Monday Club ladies provided a table cloth which the children worked with the ladies to colour and decorate.

Halloween and Harvest
The EYC took a morning walk to deliver some Harvest Parcels and then had an afternoon of fun activities such as party dances, dooking for apples and pin the eyes on Frankenstein!

Outdoor Learning
Our EYC pupils took part in our Forest Fridays sessions in our local woods. We learned about nocturnal animals, developed independence through organising ourselves for outdoor play, developed our resilience and learned to find and assess any risks and keep ourselves safe. We built a pretend fire, created a bug hotel and created a small area for hedgehogs to live.

PEEP
Shevon joined us for our PEEP sessions this term. The pupils made playdough, shakers from recycled water bottles, Firework pictures and a Christmas musical shaker. The children had lots of fun with their parents.

Keeping Safe
We have been learning about the right to be safe through our elephant soft toy, Simoa. SIMOA stands for Safety, inspect, monitor, observe and act. In the EYC, the pupils learn about different risks and keeping safe. They each take Simoa home for a great adventure. When they return the next morning, they speak to their friends in the EYC and share how they kept Simoa safe at home.

Intergenerational Learning

A big thank you to the ladies of the village ‘Monday Club’ who have very kindly allowed the EYC to join them for a chat and a snack. We had been doing some lovely Christmas colouring and sharing some Christmas stories. 🎄🎅🏻
Intergenerational Learning aims to bring people together in purposeful, mutually beneficial activities which promote greater understanding and respect between generations. It is inclusive and builds on positive resources that the younger and older have to offer each other in a fun way. We are very grateful and fortunate to have been given this opportunity. 🥰

The Twinkly Nativity

✨EYC and P1-3 “The Twinkly Nativity”✨
Well done to all of the children who took part in the nativity, rehearsed their lines, learned actions to songs and put in 100% effort as always!! And a huge thank you to all parents and carers for helping with rehearsals at home and for coming to support the children at their performance – it doesn’t go unnoticed 😊
