Term 2 in P1/2/3

Welcome to the P1/2/3  blog! We will be sharing with you what we have been up to in Term 2 so far.

This term, our Talk for Writing text was ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. We were welcomed by a huge beanstalk in our classroom one day and have been discovering different ways to describe it. We have been using lots of similes and the power of 3 to learn lots of new adjectives. It was a fun unit!!

In maths, we have been having a big focus on number. P1 have been working hard to order numbers to 30 and have been introduced to addition and subtraction. They are all doing fabulous! P2/3 have also had a big focus on number and have been learning a  ‘number of the day’ and breaking this down to really understand it.

We also looked at money and symmetry and had a little insight to weight through out Christmas post office!

Every Wednesday we were joined by Miss Green for music. We have been learning lots of different beats to different music and playing lots of musical games. We are sad to see Miss Green go but thank her for everything she taught us!

This term we had our ‘Twinkly Nativity’ Miss Muir and Miss Ingram are very proud of every pupil in the class for their excellent effort during rehearsals. We have decided as a class we LOVE nativity and already cannot wait for next year.

We are so excited to see what term 3 will bring.

We hope everyone has a lovely Christmas when it comes!

P7/6 Term 2

Welcome to the P7/6 blog! We will be sharing with you what we have been up to in Term 2 so far.

This term, our Talk for Writing text is ‘The King of the Birds’. We created our own story maps and recorded key vocabulary and features of a wishing tale. We have been focusing upon using direct speech and similes in our writing. This week we will be completing our boxing up and wishing tale toolkit to prepare to write our own hot task independently.

In maths, we are focussing upon building our confidence with number. We are using a range of strategies to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Every Tuesday, Caitlin from Active Schools, takes us for P.E. and has been teaching us social dancing.

In science, Primary 7/6 have been learning about Renewable Energy. We have been analysing the different kinds of renewable energy and the advantages and disadvantages associated with these.

This term we have continued to learn about World War 2. We have been learning about Adolf Hitler for our topic this term. Did you know if Adolf Hitler was still alive, he would be 135 years old? Adolf Hitler is unquestionably the central figure in the story of the Holocaust. It was the combination of his virulent hatred of Jews and his success in creating a political movement that was able to seize control of Germany that made the campaign to exterminate the Jews possible.

In music, Mrs Gibson has been teaching us how to play the jumbie jam. Some of us will be showcasing what we have been learning at the nativity this year.

We have also started fundraising for our residential trip to Lockerbie. Every Friday afternoon in November we opened a car wash in the playground. We use buckets with water and sponges and soap and we used a power wash. We have raised over £250 so far. Thank you to all of our customers!
