Term 1
This term in Primary 1 we have been really busy!
We have been learning lots of new sounds each week and have had Inky the mouse to help up learn. Each week he brings us 2 new sounds that come with actions and songs to help us remember. We have also started to blend out sounds together to make words. Miss Muir is always so pleased to see us all trying our hardest!!
In maths we have been learning our numbers to 20 using TenTown. Each number has a story and a song which has made our learning so exciting! We have been looking at addition within 10 and using lots of concrete materials to help us. We have also been looking at patterns and 2D shapes.
Our topic this term was Fairyland and we had the best time turning our classroom into fairyland. We have read lots of fairytales together and completed lots of tasks the dragon set for us!
We have been going outdoors most Fridays with the EYC and have braved some horrible weather! However, this did not stop us from having fun. We have been making beanstalks, spiders webs and we even made a fire! We cannot wait to go back out next term and see what else we can explore.
Next term we will be continuing with our new sounds and numbers and are really excited for Halloween and the Christmas madness!!
P7/6 Term 1
Our teacher this year is Miss Baillie and we have 18 pupils in our class. We also have Mr Woods, Mrs Robertson and Mrs Eaglesham supporting our class throughout the week.
Our P.E. days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We have been working on our basketball and tennis skills. Our class have also started working towards our Junior Coaching Award.
We have outdoor learning every second Thursday. We have been helping to tidy up the playground by weeding, painting and digging to set up new playground apparatus.
This term our topic is the Scottish Parliament. We are very excited about going on a class trip to visit the parliament in December!
Our Talk for Writing unit this term is the warning story ‘The Canal’. We have been building upon our speech marks skills, adverbials and using similes and metaphors in our writing.
In numeracy and maths, we have been focussing on bar modelling (using concrete, pictorial and abstract methods) and angles.
P7/6 braved the weather and had a brilliant ACE day! We even spotted some seals! We spent the morning coasteering and then some fun team building activities back at the centre. Miss Baillie was so impressed with the team work she witnessed! Everyone helped and encouraged each another along the way. I am so proud of each and every one of you for pushing yourself. Well done P7/6!
Keep an eye out for all the fun we are going to get up to in Term 2!
P5/4 Term 1 Summary
We have had a fantastic first term in Primary 5/4. We have been learning about Ancient Egypt. We will continue this topic next term where we will prepare our museum for parents to visit! We have been learning a song to perform too. Keep an eye out for more information soon as this will also be an enterprise project for us next term.
The most exciting day was our ACE day where we got to try out paddleboarding and canoeing. All of the children were so brave and confident in the water and everyone had a great time.
We will end the term with a trip to Dumfries House to participate in a workshop about food and farming. We have been learning about food production. We will continue this topic next term as well as learning more about the zones of regulation.
