We had a busy end to term 2 as we were still working hard on our maths and literacy while balancing that with nativity practices and exciting Christmas activities.
This has been an extremely busy and exciting term so far. Most of the class were involved in the school talent show: singing, dancing and showing off their football and boxing skills. After a lot of hard work and practice, everyone performed exceptionally well on the night.
Christmas crafts created by the children were also sold on the night. P3/4 used their artistic skills to create snowmen lanterns and then filled them with homemade peppermint creams. They also made reindeer lollipop holders.
Now it’s the countdown to Christmas and the children are enjoying opening the Advent Calendar with a difference! Lots of forfeits to perform before being rewarded with a treat.
Primary 3 enjoyed their joint party with P1/2.
Bookbug
The big people came in for a fun Bookbug morning where we worked together on lots of different tasks!
Sun, Moon and Stars
We have been learning this term about outer space. Oliver was acting as our sun. (which meant he wasn’t allowed to move!)
Halloween
We had lots of fun at our Halloween party and sponsored walk!
What a wonderful party everyone had, delightful dancing, great games and super snacks.
This term we have been learning about light and lenses in Science. We have enjoyed investigating with microscopes, magnifying glasses, mirrors and torches. We also made our own kaleidoscopes.
Our topic was Australia. We did lots of research and wrote information texts. We also created our own “Visit Australia” adverts and did some Aborigine artwork.
Primary 7 enjoyed an ACE day where they went mountain biking. The course was quite challenging but all of the children did well.
This term we have also been working on a Mock Court project. We have had visits from a solicitor who has helped us to write an initial writ and plan a defence based on a scenario where damage was done at a party. Each child has taken on a role such as court artist, writer, researcher, gown maker or witness. Jack and Lennon have both been doing a fantastic job of being a solicitor. Next term we will visit the court in Ayr to act out our scenario with other schools so we will need lots of practice!
This term out topic has been about the human skeleton and muscles. We have investigated many of the human bones and muscle groups. from this information we have been creating information PowerPoint presentations and speeches which we will perform early in the new year. Look back in January to see some posted here.
P5 joined P7/6 for a wonderful day of mountain biking at Culzean. Images were posted on our twitter feed but if you missed them here they are.
