Bikeability

Bikeability ScotlandΒ is the national cycle training programme for school children. The children receive comprehensive training to give them the skills and confidence to cycle on roads.

There are three levels of training, and pupils are taught out on the roads for levels 2 and 3, to make sure they have the confidence to make independent journeys on their bikes. The scheme is run by Cycling Scotland. We usuallyΒ offer Level 1 in Primary 5 and Level 2 in Primary 6/7.

This is a national initiative which promotes safe cycling and bicycle maintenance. Participants are assessed as they progress through the training and are awarded a badge and certificate on completion of the course. We hope that the children become more aware of the importance of road safety in relation to themselves and other road users.
