Our School House Teams
At Barr Primary School and Early Years Centre, we take pride in our vibrant house system, which is an important part of our school community. We now have two school houses: Stinchar and Changue.
A Sense of Belonging and Teamwork
When pupils join our Early Years Centre, they are assigned to one of these houses and remain part of it throughout their time at Barr Primary. Being in a house helps pupils feel a sense of belonging, encourages teamwork, and provides opportunities for leadership. Senior pupils can become house captains or vice captains, taking responsibility for leading their peers and representing their house with pride.
Earning Points and Celebrating Success
Pupils can earn points for their house in many ways, including demonstrating good manners, living our school values, and lining up well at key points in the day. Inter-house competitions, such as Sports Day and other challenges throughout the year, offer fun ways for pupils to contribute to their houseβs success while developing teamwork skills.

A Message from Our House Captains
Hello, weβre the House Captains at Barr Primary School!
Our houses, Stinchar and Changue, are a key part of school life. Being part of a house gives everyone a sense of belonging and encourages teamwork. The competitions and challenges we take part in are not only fun but also help us build confidence, especially when we face challenges in a supportive way!
Working in teams helps us communicate better, solve problems, and step up as leaders. These experiences develop important life skills such as creativity, decision-making, and resilience.
The house system also promotes our school valuesβkindness, confidence, achievement, respect, and honesty. Whether cheering each other on during sports or collaborating on projects, we always aim to show these values. Plus, itβs a great way to make friends across the school and meet new people.
Being part of Stinchar or Changue makes our school feel like one big team, and we love it!
Inter-House Challenges
Throughout the year, our house teams take part in a variety of challenges to earn points. These include sports, academic quizzes, and creative competitions. Inter-house challenges are a highlight of the school year, helping pupils build teamwork, form friendships, and work together towards shared goals.
At Barr Primary, every pupil has the chance to develop valuable skills, make lasting connections, and contribute to the success of their house team.
