Outdoor Learning in Our Early Years Centre

At Barr Primary School’s Early Years Centre, we love exploring our outdoor environment and are incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful natural setting right on our doorstep. Being a small rural school, we are surrounded by nature, and our children enjoy walking the nearby trails and exploring the woodland. These experiences allow them to connect with the natural world, fostering curiosity and a love for the outdoors.

In addition to our natural surroundings, we have a superb outdoor play area. This space is filled with opportunities for role play, sand and water play, and construction activities. It’s one of the most popular areas for our children, offering endless possibilities for imaginative and creative play. Even the older pupils love to join in and play in our outdoor area, highlighting its appeal across the school.

Outdoor learning is a vital part of our Early Years Centre, providing our children with rich, hands-on experiences that support their development in a fun and engaging way.
