Morning Primary 1

As usual, let’s start off with you singing the days of the Week song….

Which day of the week is it today? Which day is it tomorrow? Which day was it yesterday? Which day comes after Wednesday?

Now can you sing your Spanish hello song (Hola, Hola)

Fabulous, well done. Can you tell an adult how you are feeling today in Spanish? (adult: fantastico, bien, regular or mal)

Numeracy:

Warm up….

Can you count up in 2’s
Can you count on from 3 up to 16?
Can you count back from 17 and stop at 2?

Task

I’d like you to get a piece of blank paper.
On the paper can you ask an adult to draw out a simple path like the picture above:
Now blindfold the adult (or ask them to close their eyes but no peeking!) and give them a pen.
Now the child has to give verbal instructions to help guide the adult around the ‘course’ (go forward, turn right etc.)
Now swap over and the adult can give you instructions for getting around the course while you are blindfolded!
Now for a challenge, can you make the course longer and more complicated?
For even more of a challenge, can you try not to touch the sides of the course as you draw!

In your Learning Packs you will find 4 word walls…

Practise reading word walls out loud with an adult. Keep practising every day to grow your reading skills…

Now it’s time to practise your spelling

Get a tray from the kitchen
Ask an adult to pour a small amount of flour onto the tray
Choose 4 of the words from your word wall and practise saying them out loud again
Try to write each word in the flour with your finger
Did you get it right?

Challenge: Can you choose an extra 2 words?

Alternative: If you don’t have access to these resources then can you choose 4 words and write each letter using a different coloured pen just like a rainbow?
