Task 1. Do one page of your Supersonic Engine Juice workbook. Listen                             carefully to the rhyming words as you say them. Can you think of                         other words that rhyme? Try writing them on your page.

Task 2.  Remember to read out loud to your grown up every day.

Friday Fun Spelling

Challenge: Remember our sounds this week are a_e and wh. Think of some words and write them down. You can use paint, chalk, playdoh to make the words or even lego, be creative. In class we do rainbow spelling, where we write our words in one colour and again on top of it with another colour, try it at home too! Another activity could be to write your words in chalk and then use a wet paintbrush (dipped in water) to go over the words. Get a plate or tray of shaving foam and use your finger to spell the words out! There’s lots of fun ways to practise your spelling, see the pictures below to give you some ideas!
Read the words below to help you if you can’t think of any.

Morning Literacy Starter: Thursday 26th March

Good morning children, parents and carers! We hope you are all well and safe.  We have nearly made it through the week!

Remember these activities and challenges are posted to reinforce your learning at home. You don’t have to do all of them all at once.  We understand that your adults and other family members will be busy doing their work too. So just do what you can and when you can. Home learning isn’t just about doing Literacy and Maths, it’s sitting and spending time with your family. It’s also being kind and helpful by doing jobs around your home like washing the dishes, setting the table and making your bed. Remeber our rule, children: LISTEN to and respect your adults at home as they are working their hardest to keep you safe and well. 🙂

The children love doing a morning challenge as soon as they come into the classroom in the mornings so we thought we’d put one up on the blog!
Would you rather live in a place with a lot of trees or live in a place near the ocean?

Have a discussion or write your answer down and remember to say why!
I would rather live ___________ because ___________________.

Literacy Activities Wednesday 25th March

Tricky word Practice: Watch and sing along

Challenge: Choose a book and be a book detective! See if you can find any of these tricky words in your book.

AMAZING ADJECTIVES

In class we had been learning about adjectives. We know that adjectives are words that are used to describe a noun (a person, a place or an object). For example, here is the word big. There are many interesting adjectives that can be used instead of big, such as:

  • massive

  • huge

  • gigantic

  • great

  • humongous

  • enormous

Challenge:  Pick a character from a book or from a film. Draw and colour in this character, remember try to add detail into your drawing. Next, add some adjectives around your picture to describe this character. Remember what do they look like on the outside (tall, small, brown eye, shiny hair etc.) and what are they like on the inside (evil, smart, kind, funny etc.)

Challenge 2: Can you now write a character description (a couple of sentences about your chosen character). Remember to use the adjectives you wrote down earlier.

Here’s some examples:
