P2a Deforestation Protest

As part of our COP26 Environment topic, P2a learned about deforestation. It made us sad and angry that orangutans and other animals are losing their homes. We decided to make signs to tell the big companies to stop damaging the planet and we then held our own classroom protest. We hope you enjoy this video and photos showing how passionately we felt about this!

P2b Halloween Week

This week p2b have been hard at work ordering numbers to 60 using witches hats.

They created their spelling words in a pumpkin patch.

They created a witches potion during a science experiment.

As well as finishing their pumpkins off this week!

Katie Morag’s Island

Last term P2a made a 3D model of the island where Katie Morag lives. We have been reading the Katie Morag series as part of our topic. We enjoyed using different materials to recreate the landscape, buildings, plants and animals. Here is a video where some of the children show you their hard work.

P2b

Here’s a sneak peak at what P2b have been doing this week:

This week we have been exploring all the different ways we can make the numbers 1-50.

They have also been challenging themselves in literacy using Foundations of Writing.

They have also been creating their own paper mache pumpkins for Halloween during art.

P2a Library Visit

Primary 2a enjoyed visiting the school library yesterday to choose books to read over the October holiday. They looked at the covers, titles and blurbs of the books before deciding. We hope you enjoy reading them together! Please return the books to school on Tuesday 19th October.

Attention Parents and Carers!

Hello! Your child will have gone home today with their homework jotter. At the back of their jotter you will find a Maths homework grid stapled/glued. Please read through these homework activities with your child. Every week your child should complete 1 activity. Homework jotters should be returned every Thursday.

After the October week holiday. Your child will receive spelling homework with a spelling grid attached to the front of the homework jotter. A letter will go out with this to explain how spelling homework should be completed.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Miss Rai, Miss Macfadyen and Miss Rodulson

Maths Week Scotland

P2/1 have enjoyed taking part in Maths Week Scotland this week. As the theme was weather this year, we revised the days of the week by writing in our weather diaries daily and made our own daily weather forecast reports. We practised writing our numbers when we made our own thermometers. Furthermore, we learned about directions when we made windsocks. It was fun testing them out in the playground!
“This is fun!” – Alfie
“I’m going to try and write my numbers in 10s.” – Maisie (talking about her thermometer)
“My windsock is moving! That means it’s windy.” – Tavis
