Story Setting Task

Good morning Primary 2. I hope you had a good day yesterday. Today we are going to look at story setting. Before school was closed, we were learning about story setting and how some authors use a story setting to start a story.

Remember a story setting is where the story takes place.

Challenge 1: Look at the pictures below and think of some adjectives to describe them (Remember think about your senses. What do you see? If you stepped into the picture, what could you hear, feel?)

Challenge 2: Pick one of the pictures and draw it in your jotter. Can you write a story setting description using lots of adjectives. Remember to write in sentences using full stops, capital letters and finger spaces. Here are some sentence starters to help you:

Once up on a time in a ________ land there was a _________.

It was _______ and _______.

There were ____________ 

It felt ___________.

Adjectives to help you: tiny, huge, massive, dry, dusty, magical, enchanted, old, rough, dirty, shiny, rusty, cute, sparkling, clear, golden, beautiful, fun, busy, quiet, loud, howling, creepy, creaky, dark, bright, sunny.

Challenge 3: Read your story setting description out to someone. Now can you come up with a character who lives in your story setting. Draw them and make up a name for them.
