Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are having a lovely weekend after our busy Eco Week and Red Nose Day. Well we have made it to the last week of term and you will all be pleased to know there is no homework this week. Please continue reading for your reminders.
Personal Reading Challenge: You are now on your last week of your personal reading challenge. You have all set yourself a target which you are aiming to reach (or beat!) by the end of the challenge. Please remember to record the books you have read in your Reading Passports which are kept in class. I am so proud of the way you have all engaged in this challenge – well done.
Maths: There is no maths homework this week, however you can still practise your tables by accessing the links below. Remember we will be continuing our Table Challenge in class this week.
P.E. will be on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Please ensure you have a P.E. kit in school. Please also remember to have a bottle of water with you as you will be working hard.
This week is our second Big Pedal week. You may bring your bike or scooter to school. Please remember a helmet must be worn during our daily sessions in the playground. A plastic bag should be brought to protect your bike seat from the rain. Please remember you are not allowed to cycle or scooter in the playground before or after school.
All Pupil/Parent Response sheets should have been returned to school by now. Parents’ Night appointments are on Tuesday and Wednesday. I am looking forward to talking to your parents about the progress you have made.
Our annual Inter House quiz will be held on Thursday afternoon.
Your child has been continuing to add to their online profile since November. It is their responsibility to add their latest Achievements an in detail, providing evidence where possible. The best way to view their latest additions is to click on ‘Achievements and Progress’ on the left-hand side panel. Then you will see the ‘pages’ and the various entries.
Please ask your child to show you their online profile by logging on to https://www.mymerit.net/. Your child has their Username and Password. They will continue to add to their profile throughout the year.
Please complete the tear-off slip below and leave any comments once you have read their profile
On Friday afternoon, each group had a different testimony from someone who experienced the Holocaust; either a survivor or a person who helped the persecuted to escape.
You had to read their testimonies and then discuss in your group how that person might have felt during the various experiences they went through. There were real life testimonies, therefore out major focus was to highlight the feelings and emotions of each person.
If you would like to watch footage of the actual people, click the links below:
Within the limited time you all managed to produce excellent presentations to retell the story of these people’s lives. You managed to keep your tone serious while explaining the feelings of the people and give a personal response. Well done.
Remember to complete each task to the best of your ability. Please let me know if you are struggling with any task or need advice, as soon as possible. Try not to get stressed or upset about homework – it really isn’t worth it! Ask your parent/carer to write a note if you are unable to attempt any task. Thank you, Miss McDowall.

We will be watching the film version of Goodnight Mister Tom on Friday 31st March. As it is a PG, we would appreciate if you would let us know if you do not wish your child to watch the film so we can arrange an alternative activity.
We are in the final stages of engineering our cars and today we got some of them to move down the corridor! We focused on putting the tops on the cars and decorating them to make them look colourful! It was fantastic to see so many of them move! Well done P6!
Today we completed a modelling task using recyclable materials. We made Eco Mascots! We had to give our mascot a name and a superpower, something that would be eco-friendly for the future! We enjoyed creating these and came up with some interesting ideas, such as a robot who eats litter and puts it back out as compost for planting! We plan to use them to create graphs to classify the mascots for our data analysis assessment!
What a busy week we have had with the Big Pedal, Eco tasks, our WW2 show, Red Nose Day and that’s not even including all the usual learning! Luckily, we had a half hour chill time in the beautiful Spring sunshine this morning. It was lovely to see everyone mixing between the classes and enjoying each other’s company.
Yesterday afternoon some of you took part in the danceathon in aid of Red Nose Day. I was exhausted just watching you! Show the photographs to someone at home and let me know what they think.
Yesterday was Big Pedal Day 4 and our numbers increased again with a rise in the number of scooters. Hopefully this will continue into next week. It was lovely and bright yesterday but not as bright as your smiling faces.
We had lots of fun taking part in the Eco drama with bag girl! We became recycling superheroes and learnt how to minimise our waste and reduce, reuse and recycle. Thanks bag girl for all your help! ♻️
Parents nights are Tues 6.00 – 8.30 and Wed 3.30 – 6.00.
We will visit Bishopton Library on Friday 31st March at 11.15 so please make sure you have your library book with you. We are looking for one helper for that trip please.
By now, I hope you have received your child’s pupil profile. Please let me know if you haven’t received it yet.
Primary 4 and 5 gave a donation to comic relief today to take part in a Danceathon! They had to dance for 20 minutes to some well known songs. They were fantastic and definitely had some fantastic dance moves! Well done Primary 4 and 5!
I hope you have all received your child’s Learning Profile which I have sent today. Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback; I’m delighted that you enjoyed reading about your child’s learning. Please let me know if you haven’t received you child’s profile by tomorrow and I will aim to resolve this quickly.
Children have been reminded today that tomorrow is an own clothes day where they can wear red. Children have been asked to bring a £1 donation to donate to the Red Nose Day fund.
A huge well done to the pupils of P7 for their dress rehearsal in front of the whole school and then their evening performance to family and friends. They worked hard with Euan from G.A.M.T.A. to help to create the script. We had a debrief of the show on Wednesday morning, to discuss what went well, how the show could have been better, what we would do differently next time and what we learned from the experience.
We will be holding danceathons for Primary 4 and 5 tomorrow, as part of our Red Nose Day fund raising. Children may take part with a 50p donation and must dance for the allotted time of 20 minutes continuously. I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow for some fund raising, fun, and exercise.
On Friday 24th, please come dressed in something RED and bring a donation of £1. You will also have the opportunity to Guess the Teacher from a baby photo. Each guess will be 10p.
As well as raising funds with Red Nose events this week, we have also been discussing the importance of supporting our local charities. One way in which we can do this is through donating to our local charity shops. This also supports the learning from the Eco Drama that Primary 2 took part in, which encouraged us to ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’. If you have an old toy which is no longer used and would like to donate, I will be collecting donations all week. Thank you to the children who have donated toys already, which I will distribute to charity shops within our community.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the bake sale today which raised funds for Red Nose Day. We raised a great amount of money and all had a great time munching the delicious cakes that Primary 6 made for us.
Tomorrow Miss Grant, Miss Frew and myself will be painting faces at lunchtime. This event is open for Primary 1-3 and children must have their permission form signed with 20p to take part. The children will have their lunch first and then go to P2H to get their face painted.
Please bring in a plastic bottle, if possible, for Friday. If you have extras it would be great if you could bring them in too. We have a wee Eco activity to do!
I have emailed your child’s Pupil Profile to you this evening. Some of them are in 2 parts as I had multiple profiles on my iPad ! Please let me know by Friday if you have not received your emails -I know of one address which is incorrect in my records and I will speak to that parent tomorrow.
I hope you enjoy looking at them with your child and I look forward to meeting with you next week.
This morning we had our last visit of the term to the library. Once again lots of books were taken out to read over the next few weeks. We had animal books, books about careers and transport, Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, Jacqueline Wilson books ……. lots and lots of different books. I am loving the enthusiasm from you, even those of you who are claiming you still don’t like reading despite all the books you have got through this term. Well done everyone!
Thank you to our two parent helpers who came along with us today. Our next visit will be on Tuesday 25th April.
We are happy to tell you that Bishy Bath Bombs have some excess stock of our bubblegum scented bath bombs. We will be selling the remaining stock on a first come first served basis in packs of three for £1!
