The Train Ride

Our story of the week this week is The Train Ride by June Crebbin.  We read the story and we listened to the song – a lot.  We sequenced the story and we talked about what we would see out of the train window.

We went on a pretend train ride in the class and had lots of fun!  We drew some lovely pictures of what we might see out of the train window and then sequenced and wrote a sentence about it.  Today we made our own train pictures by piecing together 2D shapes.
Below are the photos of our ‘train ride’.  Photos of the work to follow later…

Remembrance Day Poppies

Today we learned about why we have Remembrance Day and why we wear poppies.  We had a 2 minute silence at 11am to remember those who have fought in wars.  In the afternoon we painted poppies for art.
They are absolutely beautiful.  I will post a photo of our display once it is up.

The whole alphabet!

On Tuesday we learned our final initial sound -x , so now we have learned all the sounds in the alphabet!  We were so excited to get the final sound to add to our magnetic letter boards. We made some cvc words with our magnetic letters and practised writing them.

Venn Diagrams

This afternoon for maths, Primary 1 learned about Venn diagrams with Mrs Davidson.
We sorted shapes  using a Venn diagram on the interactive white board and then used our own Venn diagrams at our desks to sort different objects into categories. It was fun and Mrs Davidson said we did really well.

Halloween Fun Day!

We had a hauntingly happy day on Friday for Halloween fun day.  All the costumes were amazing!

We had lots of fun activities to do including a Halloween sound hunt, Halloween bingo,  Halloween number game, ghost art, spider web biscuit decoration, movie with popcorn and Halloween yoga!

P1 Houses.

Primary 1 have now been allocated their school house. They can earn points towards their house throughout the year and winning houses receive termly rewards.  I wonder which house will climb to victory first? House captains for each house are Primary 7 pupils and Vice house captains have recently been elected in primary 6!
