Visit from a Papa
This afternoon we also had a visit from one of our primary ones Papas. He came in to talk to us about what life was like when he was a young boy, to link to our topic about life in Scotland as a child in the past.
We learned a lot about what school and hone life was like, toys and games he used to play with and also about what Christmas was like. It was really interesting and we were shocked when we heard about children getting the belt and the fact that there were no mobile phones or tablets! 😱
Thank you so much to Papa for coming in to talk to us and answer our questions. And for telling us all about life growing up in the 1950s.
It was fascinating.
Mini Burns Supper.
- This afternoon we learned about the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns and learned about how we celebrate his life and work in Scotland by having a Burns supper.
In class we celebrated by having a wee party with some treats of haggis crisps, shortbread, oatcakes and a wee splash of iron bru. We coloured in some tartan and Scottish pictures and listened to bagpipe music.
We had a braw time together!
