Advent begins this Sunday. During the four weeks of Advent, we will prepare and remember the real meaning of Christmas. This year, as part of our Advent appeal, we will be collecting for the local foodbanks.

Today, Primary 6 made Snowman Soup for the Christmas Fayre on Monday night. There was a little left over, so we had a cup of our own!
On Tuesday, some Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils travelled to the Ian Nicolson Centre to take part in an athletics competition with different schools from North Lanarkshire. Children participated in field events in the morning and track events in the afternoon. Our points will be added together soon and we will then find out if we are through to the finals. This afternoon, we had an Open Afternoon for parents who wish to bring their children to St Michael’s Primary School. Our children from Primary 6 and 7, provided a tour of the school for the parents who came along.
Primary 6 have been learning about the seven Continents of the world, the countries within them and their landmarks. Today, they all chose a landmark, sketched it then used media of their choice to add colour to their piece of artwork.
Our teaching staff went to St Patrick’s in Kilsyth for their in-service day. Whilst they were there, they heard from guest speaker Myra Young and they met with colleagues from our cluster schools to discuss Assessment and Moderation.
The following letters were sent out today via email to the parents of the children involved in these events.
In an effort to cut costs for the school, from this week, all correspondence including letters and newsletters will be e-mailed to all parents. Many thanks for your co-operation in passing on your details to the school and we hope that you will find this new system most beneficial, it will certainly reduce the crumpled letters in the bottom of school bags!
There is also a “parents app” available for download to your smartphone/tablet which we will also being using for correspondence. This will have no cost to yourself or the school.
The app is called ‘xpressions’ and the log in will require the same e-mail address that you have provided to the school. We would advise you to download this as soon as possible.
Our November newsletter was distributed on Friday. This is the last paper copy letter that will be given out to the children as from now on, all other letters will be sent out via email. It can be found it out ‘Newsletter‘ section under ‘School Information‘ or by clicking the link below.
