On 31st October our canteen will be serving a ‘Halloween themed menu’.

We are participating in the Scottish School Meals week and will deliver a themed menu on 1st – 3rd November.  The changes to the menu are as follows:

Wednesday 1st November  – Meat Free Day – Lentil soup, quorn tikka and rice or cheese & tomato pizza, swiss roll and custard plus any drink for £2

Thursday 2nd November – Hot Dog Meal Deal – Soup, hot dog or tomato pasta,dessert and drink £2

Wednesday 3rd November – Favourite Friday – Soup, choice of school’s popular dishes, choice of dessert and drink £2

Today is our Annual Halloween Parade which will begin at 1.15pm in the school hall.  Our theme will be based on the book ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson.  Our Nursery Class and Primaries 1-3 will each perform on stage as the story is being read with a few more surprises.  Our morning nursery children are invited to return in the afternoon for the performance.

Children are permitted to go home to change at 12pm if picked up by their parent, alternatively they may bring their clothes in and will be assisted in getting changed after lunch.

We will be holding a raffle during the performance and any donations of raffle prizes would be appreciated.

Doors will open at 1.10pm (to allow the hall to be cleared).  Families are welcome however, we are unable due to health and safety, to accommodate buggies in the entrance, Primary 7 pupils will be available to take your buggy from you and put them in the project hall until after the performance.

Many thanks to the Parent Council for a fantastic Halloween Disco last night!  The children had a spooktacular time!!  The costumes were fantastic!

The photographers will be in the school on Thursday 9th November 2017.

As has been the practice for several years they will only be taking photographs of Primary 1, Primary 7 and Nursery children at this time.

You may also have the opportunity to have your children photographed either individually or as a family. Please reply by Monday 6^th November 2017.  If you do not select one of the options via the email link then we will assume that you do not require the photograph to be taken.

The photographers will be ready to start at 8.30 a.m.  This will enable parents with children in the nursery to bring them in before they start, if they wish.  Children who attend the nursery in the afternoon will also have an opportunity to have their photographs done from 1 p.m.   Children wearing glasses are asked to move them further down their nose than normal to prevent the flash showing in the photograph.  Should you decide that you would prefer them to remove their glasses please tell your child to do so on the day.

St Michael’s Primary Parent Council are hosting our annual Hallowe’en Disco on

Thursday 26^th October!

 Primary 1 – 3  from 6.30pm – 7.30pm

 Primary 4 – 7 from 7.45pm – 9.00pm

Primary 1- 3 will enter and exit through main door.

Primary 4 – 7 will enter through the door at the playground beside the P5 and P6/5 classrooms.  They will exit via the main door at the foyer.

The entrance fee of £2 will be paid at the door and includes a bag of special Hallowe’en treats and a drink!

The Parent Council Annual General Meeting will take place on
MONDAY 1st OCTOBER 2017, 6.30PM

We would like to welcome all returning members and any parent or carer who would like to come along to find out what the parent council does and to offer any help, suggestions or ideas. We have a number of available spaces to join our parent council. Our meetings are informal; we have a chat about upcoming events and what’s going on in and around the school. We meet around 7 times per school year and meetings only last an hour. We would love to welcome any parents who are interested in joining, please pop in and see what the parent council is about, we hope to see you there!

North Lanarkshire have organised for a new online booking system for our parents’ evenings. Our next event is on Thursday 12^th October 2017 for all classes from Primary 1 to Primary 7.

The system is live from 19^th September and will be open to take your bookings until 11^th October 2017.

Once you have logged in, I suggest you use the ‘make appointment individually’.  This will take you to the booking page, simply click on a time slot to reserve your appointment.  The orange bar ‘booking instructions’ at the right side of the appointment times will provide more information on the booking process.  The blue bar ‘email your bookings’ will send you email confirmation of your booking.

 Troubleshooting Tips –  please read before booking! 

• To login you need to enter the details we have on record for you and your child. If you have recently changed your title or surname, for example, and not informed us, we will be expecting you to login with the details we have on record
• The email address you enter is only used to receive a confirmation of your appointment. If the system gives you an error when you login, it will not be the email address that is the problem

SPONSORED ASSAULT COURSE
This yearly event will take place on Thurs 28th Sept. Please send sponsor money in advance along with the signed consent.
Pupils may come to school on this day wearing their school P.E. kit and a tracksuit or jogging suit and trainers.  As always, please ensure your child has their water bottle with them

ST. MICHAEL’S FEAST DAY
Mass will be celebrated in school at 11.00 a.m. on Friday 29th Sept.  Parents, carers and grandparent are all welcome.

Book Fair

The Book Fair will be held between Monday 9^th October until and Friday 13th.  These dates coincide with the parent interviews being held on Thursday 12th.  Please feel free to visit the Book Fair before or after your interview.  Alternatively if you would like to call into the school and browse through the books with or without your child please do not hesitate to do so.  Parents of children in the Nursery may visit at any time during the day.

The timetable for the children to visit is as follows:
