Primary 5/4 had a productive afternoon making props for our Spring Show this week.
The children have been working hard preparing for the Spring Showcase of their learning.
Primary 5 have been learning all about trees and how to measure the carbon they produce.
Today Primary 5 have been developing their learning of measurement. We have been participating in a variety of activities to measure the volume and capacity of solids and liquids.
Primary 5-7 took part in a presentation from the local Fire Station on Fire Related Anti-Social Behaviour.
They learned about ways they can be safe and avoid being caught up in anti-social behaviour related to starting fires.
Primary 5 have been investigating water hardness and softness. We found that we have soft water in our taps, the water has between 0mg/L CaCO3 and 50mg/L of CaCO3.
We also investigated the Mpemba Effect. Our results have shown that in most cases the cold water froze faster than the warm water.
However one result showed that the warm water froze faster, this is because of a variation in liquid amounts.
We concluded that in science experiments you can get lots of different results, our predictions are not always correct. Mpemba noticed in 1963 that warm water froze faster than cold water, however many scientists argue with this conclusion. The question whether warm water or cold water freezes first is still being debated today.
Today Primary 5 have been enjoying developing their learning of time using stopwatches.
Today in Primary 5, we were learning to keep the beat to music by taking part in the ‘My Name is Tom’ song.
