Communions

On Sunday 22nd May, ten of our Primary 4’s made their First Holy Communion.  Mass was celebrated at St. Lucy’s Parish Church by Father Campbell.  On the 5th June,  some of the other children will also receive the sacrament of Communion.  The children have worked very hard in class to prepare for this very special occasion.

Class 4

What a busy start to the last term of Primary 3!  The boys in Class 4 have especially enjoyed their Numeracy lessons – sharing and grouping M & M’s as an introduction to multiplication and division.  Number work has never been so yummy!

They are also enjoying preparing a puppet show relating to their topic of Birds and Mammals.  Do you know how elephants got their trunks?

Designing Ballot Booths

The pupils of P6 have been designing ballot booths in their co-operative learning groups. They examined real ballot booths. They used metre sticks to measure them which helped design their own drawings. The pupils are going to use cardboard boxes to make a correctly scaled booth of their own.

Inside Our P3 Classroom

The boys and girls in P3 have been learning about birds and mammals. We learned that there are some birds that don’t fly like an ostrich or a flamingo. We have been using our skills in Art in Design to draw some illustrations of birds and mammals. The children have also been thinking about healthy and unhealthy foods.

What’s Going On In P4?

We have been learning about the brain and how it affects our short term and long term memory. We have discovered some interesting facts like our brains weigh around 3lbs, the size of your brain is the same as your two fists put together and that your brain sends messages at 300mph. One important job of your brain is to control your nervous system.
We have also been learning lots of new Spanish terms. These have included numbers to 10, some body parts like your feet or ‘peis’ and your eye ‘ojo’. A good way of remembering ‘ojo’ is that the word looks like an image of 2 eyes and a nose. To help us with our new learning we have had a visiting Spanish Assistant called Alba. She comes from the North of Spain. She told us that the Spanish tradition is to have your both your Mum and Dad’s Surname.
