Inside Our P3 Classroom

The boys and girls in P3 have been learning about birds and mammals. We learned that there are some birds that don’t fly like an ostrich or a flamingo. We have been using our skills in Art in Design to draw some illustrations of birds and mammals. The children have also been thinking about healthy and unhealthy foods.

What’s Going On In P4?

We have been learning about the brain and how it affects our short term and long term memory. We have discovered some interesting facts like our brains weigh around 3lbs, the size of your brain is the same as your two fists put together and that your brain sends messages at 300mph. One important job of your brain is to control your nervous system.
We have also been learning lots of new Spanish terms. These have included numbers to 10, some body parts like your feet or ‘peis’ and your eye ‘ojo’. A good way of remembering ‘ojo’ is that the word looks like an image of 2 eyes and a nose. To help us with our new learning we have had a visiting Spanish Assistant called Alba. She comes from the North of Spain. She told us that the Spanish tradition is to have your both your Mum and Dad’s Surname.

Learning in P1

The children have been working on spelling and using their magnetic boards to reinforce their spelling skills. Some of the children have been enjoying reading “Little Truck.” During numeracy lessons the children have shown they can count to 20 forwards and backwards. As part of learning in health and wellbeing the children have been thinking about what makes a good friend.

Learning in P2

Our interdisciplianry theme is based around the story of Katy Morag Delivers The Mail. We have been learning about homing pigeons and thinking about how long messages take to be delivered. This is helping us develop our understanding of time.

Book Fair

The boys and girls of St. Lucy’s school and Nursery thoroughly enjoyed browsing and buying from our Book Fair this week.  With so much choice from Star Wars to Mr. Tumble, the trickiest thing was deciding which book to buy. Happy Reading Everyone!!
