Lenten Charity Activities
As you know, we recently had a Sponsored Dance-a-thon. This event raised over £3000 which is probably the most we have ever raised in one event. Thank you so much for your generosity and support of the school. As agreed, some of this money will be shared with the Parent Council (who always use their funds for the children). We have agreed that some of it will also be used as a donation to the efforts to support the people of Ukraine. The rest of the money will be put into the school fund and this will be used to support activities/events/resources for the children.
Week Beginning 28th March 2022
As we have not had a major Lenten Charities Day for a couple of years now, we have decided to hold a couple of simple fundraising events in the last week of term, so that we can send some further funds to SCIAF as part of our efforts during Lent. This will be added to the previous money we raised, thanks to your overwhelming generosity!
Tickets will be on sale until Friday morning and we will draw the raffle and reveal the winners on Friday before the end of term. Thank you so much for your continued support and generosity.

FOOD BANK FRIDAY & RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOL DAY
Tomorrow, 25th March 2022, will be a big day at St. John Paul II! We are holding our monthly collection for the local Food Bank, as it is Food Bank Friday! Please see below for ideas of items to send in.
Tomorrow is also our Rights Respecting Schools Day (RRS). The children will have a full day of activities, competitions and a Rights Assembly. This is the first RRS Day we have had for a couple of years now due to COVID restrictions.
Our Rights Ambassadors, supported by Mr McLaughlin and Miss McCardie have been working extremely hard to prepare for the day and we are sure it will be wonderful!
Please note:
- There is no charge for the day (no money needed!)
- Children should wear School Uniform as normal.

P7 Transition – Cardinal Newman Roadshow
Staff from Cardinal Newman will be offering a Virtual Meeting for Parents/Carers of Primary 7 pupils who are transferring to CNHS in August 2022. This meeting will take place over Microsoft Teams, which all children have access to. Class Teachers will be checking with the children to make sure that they can access their Teams account. This meeting will be for you as Parents/Carers and the children too.
CNHS staff will share information about classes, the structure of the school week, communication, etc.
We were hoping that this meeting could be in person, but the guidelines have not yet changed.
The meeting will take place on:
Tuesday 29th March 2022 at 7:30pm on Microsoft Teams. You can join on any computer/laptop/ipad/tablet/smart phone.
There is a Team set up for all Primary 7 pupils and the meeting will be accessible through this team. I hope that you will be able to join us!
Mr Thomas.
