SCHOOL UNIFORM AUGUST 2023

I am sure that many of you are thinking about school uniform for the beginning of the new school year.  I don’t want to rush the holidays, but I do want to remind you of the information which was sent out at the end to term in June!

You may remember that we surveyed Parents and Carers at the Parents’ Night in March and the overwhelming majority of those who responded were willing and keen to ensure that FOR P.E. LESSONS children should not wear branded garments and P.E. days should not be an extra ‘dress down day’.   I will monitor this and perhaps reintroduce changing in and out of uniform if the situation hasn’t improved.

Let’s start as we mean to go on!

Please click on the link below for further information on all uniform.  Please note NO FOOTBALL COLOURS, including on school bags, water bottles, other accessories should be worn in school.

School Uniform at St. John Paul II AUGUST 2023

If you or anyone you know needs support in sourcing uniform or there are financial worries regarding uniform, please contact Mr Thomas on enquiries-at-johnpaul@northlan.org.uk and I will be in touch.

The Thorniewood Community Council were also planning a Uniform Bank.  They can be contacted through Social Media.

Thank you for your support!  I hope that your Summer is going well and I look forward to welcoming everyone back in August.

End of Year Thoughts

We had our last school Mass yesterday, where we presented our P6 pupils with the new P7 tie. This will show to others that they’re taking on some of the leadership roles within our school. We look forward to seeing you wearing them with pride in August!! 💙💛

Also at Mass yesterday Fr Bogan presented our the Pope Francis Faith Awards to our P7 pupils. These children have worked so hard over the past two years to put the gifts of the Holy Spirit into action in their daily lives, in the life of their school and in their parish. Congratulations. 💙💛

At this time of year, we often have to say goodbyes!! This year, we said farewell to Mrs McClung. We thank her for all her hard work over the past few months and wish her luck!! 💙💛

Our final presentation was to St Andrew’s Hospice. We were delighted to present them with a cheque for £1932.52 which was raised by our P1 pupils’ Teddy Bears Picnic and the P7’s Wear Yellow Walk. Thank you all for your incredible support of this wonderful charity! 💙💛

A big thank you also has to go to our wonderful P7 House Captains. You have worked so hard this year, been so committed and dedicated to your roles and been tremendous examples to the rest of the school. Next year’s captains will have big shoes to fill! 💙💛

To our P7 pupils, who have left us for their new adventure at CNHS – what can we say?! We thank you for all you have done for the life of our school, not only in this past year but across your whole time with us!! You have been amazing! Remember what Fr Bogan told you yesterday “Once a John Paul Person, always a John Paul Person” and what Mr T says “Remember you were loved!” Take our love with you on you new journey and shine like the stars we know you are!! 💙💛
And our final thank you goes to you – all our wonderful families. We would like to say thank you for all the kind words, cards and gifts over these past few days. These are totally unexpected, but very much appreciated. But more than that, we want to thank you so much for all your support over the past year. From supporting us in various events, to just passing on kind words and thoughts on a random basis, this all means so much to us all.
We hope you have a great summer! 💙💛

PRIMARY 7 GRADUATION MASS & CEREMONY & LAST DAY INFO

You will find information regarding Graduation below.  Please also note the information regarding the last day of term and specifically the 1pm dismissal:

  • Children should still wear school uniform on the last day, as we will be attending Mass in the Church at 10am.  All welcome.
  • Children will be permitted to change into alternative clothes before 1pm if they wish.  They should bring these with them.
  • School finishes at 1pm.  We will dismiss the P7 children a couple of minutes after 1pm to allow some of the traffic to disperse.
  • Staff will form a Guard of Honour as the children process with their Teachers out of the double gate in the playground.  The Piper will lead the procession.
  • Please ensure that any hired vehicles do not enter the school car park.  Ask them to arrive AFTER 1pm as the roads will be very congested and there will be limited space.  I’m grateful for your co-operation with this and I’ve already discussed this with a parent who is in contact with the party bus company.

Please click HERE to RSVP and book your tickets by FRIDAY 23RD JUNE at 9am.

Unclaimed tickets will be offered to other families.
