Thursday 26th April

A reminder to all parents and carers that Primary 7 are hosting a cake and candy sale in order to raise funds for ‘little extras ‘ during their York trip. This has been a tradition for a number of years and has been very well supported in the past. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with  this matter.

Logo Express are visiting our school today so that our Primary 7 pupils can be fitted for blazers, as part of their uniform for St Ambrose High. This is an annual event and the children really begin to feel like first year pupils whilst dressed in an important part of the St Ambrose uniform. We wish them well.

Wednesday 25th April

Our Primary 7 pupils are holding a cake and candy sale on Thursday in order to raise funds for little extra’s in York.  The stall will be supervised by our senior pupils during interval and lunch time and we would be very grateful if you could supply children will some pocket money to buy some goodies with. All home baking and contributions of cakes etc would be very gratefully received on Thursday morning, any small contribution that you could make would be very helpful.

Both Primary 6/7 and Primary 7 pupils enjoyed a fabulous day out at The People’s Palace in Glasgow yesterday and their teachers reported that all of pupils were a credit to the school. Well done boys and girls!

Tuesday 24th April

Cluster Primary Head Teachers from both St Ambrose and St Andrew’s attended a spiritual reflection at the Diocesan Centre in Motherwell. This was a lovely experience and a valuable input, especially at this time of year. Bishop Toal presented us with the beautiful commemoration that you can see above. The 2018 Centenary Celebrations have been an integral part of the diocese planned events this year and there are many more planned for the very near future.

Primary 4/5 had a fabulous time at Tullie House in Dumfries yesterday and you can catch up with photographs and video clips on twitter.

Primary 6/7 and Primary 7 are also leaving St Bartholomew’s today – just for the day… They will be visiting the People’s Palace in Glasgow and again this trip is linked to topic work. I know that the children are thoroughly looking forward to experiencing the interactive activities that this outing will provide. Keep your eye on twitter for pictures!

Monday 23rd April

Our Primary 4/5 pupils will be visiting Tullie House in Carlisle today. This trip has been organised in conjunction with the class topic of ‘The Romans’. The museum has an entire floor dedicated to historical artefacts and children will have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of interesting resources from that era. Interesting workshops and interactive events have also be scheduled for the children and they will have the opportunity to dress up as different Roman characters. It all sounds like brilliant fun. As it is such as jam packed day, it has been agreed that the boys and girls will be back a little later, perhaps around 4pm. A text will be sent to parents when the expected time of arrival will be.

A reminder to parents and carers of Primary 1 and 2 children that a Cheerleading after school club will take place between 3pm and 4pm. Please ensure that children are given an appropriate change of suitable clothing and water bottles.

A reminder to Primary 7 parents that an information evening will take place this evening at 6pm in respect of the upcoming trip to York. This will be a brief outline of what the children can expect to experience, during their stay and reassure parents and carers.

Friday 20th April

We have all had a fantastic first week back after the Easter  holiday. I think some of our boys and girls were starting to get a little bored and were in need of the stimulus from learning. A number of of our pupils attended the various clubs and sports camps that were available over the Easter break and thoroughly enjoyed them. Some children reported that they attended every day and particularly enjoyed the social element of meeting new friends whilst joining in with sporting activities.

Mrs MacIntyre will post our ‘Pupil’s of the Week’ later on this afternoon. Many teachers have reported that they are spoiled for choice as to who will receive this award as so many boys and girls have been working hard and behaving so well. Good luck boys and girls!

Thursday 19th April

This young man in the photograph above, has been working on problem solving skills with Ms McLennaghan. What a superstar!

Our pupils are settling in very well after the Easter break and have been working incredibly hard on various projects, in addition to core learning.

Primary 7 parents and carers are reminded that a York information meeting will be held on Monday, in the school hall at 6pm. This is to provide parents and carers with more detail about the variety of excursions that are included in the trip and a schedule of events. We look forward to welcoming to you then.

Tuesday 17th April

Please check your child’s school bag for a letter that informs you of a great family fun night out on Saturday. The family disco will take place in St Bartholomew’s church hall at 7.30pm. This will be a super night that all of the family can enjoy and children are free of cost, which is an added bonus! As you know, many of our children are fantastic dancers and performers and would thoroughly enjoy an opportunity show off their moves…This event has been organised to raise funds for the rewiring project at St Bartholomew’s church and your support would be very much appreciated.

During my class visits yesterday, I saw a few tired faces, where a handful of children found it hard to readjust to getting up early again. However, I am happy to report that all of our boys and girls were working hard and trying their very best. We also welcomed two more pupils to St Bartholomew’s yesterday and I am delighted to say that they were very happy with their new school and have made some new friends already.Well done girls!

Monday 16th April

Welcome back everyone! I hope that our entire school community has enjoyed a wonderful Easter holiday. There have been a number of varied opportunities to take advantage of during this particular holiday. Club 365, NL Active Schools Easter Club and football camps, to name but a few. These clubs offered huge scope for fitness opportunities, in addition to meeting up with friends on a social basis. I am looking forward to hearing about  some of the adventures experienced by our pupils.

Our final term of session 2017/ 2018 is a very busy one. As always, we will keep you up to date via the daily HT blog, twitter, Dojo, letters and termly newsletter. Thank you for your continued support, it is very much appreciated.
